My hat of choice for the Christmas festivities yesterday. Part of my “A Christmas Story Collection“ of two 1950s Dobbs Fifteen originally purchased at Higbee’s in Cleveland where the infamous Santa Claus ”You’ll shoot your eye out kid” scene was filmed.

Had a wet stormy day yesterday. 2-1/2" rain in 3 hrs. Had 2 feet of water standing in the street out front. Everything is soggy, foggy and soaked this morning. Time to brighten up the world in a Knox 15 that was salvaged from a rather sad state (Felt ok but sweatband was crumbling and liner was totally mildewed and rotted) Sewed in a new sweat and liner. Salvaged the embossed Knox 15 logo from old sweat and affixed it to the liner.

Yesterday I posted my Dobbs *** Prince in a beautiful shade of green and pristine condition. This morning I'm sporting my Buckskin Dobbs Twenty that was "much-loved" in a past life and had two small tears in the crown, one of which is right up front. I got the hat for 30 bucks so figured what the heck...I would try to repair it best I could and if it all went south no huge loss.
I cut small patches out of some felt hat spacers and glued them inside the hat where the tears were. The one in rear is dang near invisible but you can see the front one if you look. The hat has lots of character as is so I'm not going to mess with it any more. I ended up moving the pinch over in front and now the tear is harder to spot. (last pic)

Arrived at Friday after the two days of celebration and the sun continues its race towards the horizon

Today a Panizza without other labels and it turns out to be one of the best of this manufacturer that I have found in my research.

What I particularly like is the color and especially the finish of the felt "peachy" or if you prefer "antelope".
The color is "Bolzano" a city in the Alps in South Tyrol.

Very nice to the touch the felt makes me regret not having it in other Panizza hats.

BIG DAY IN EAST TEXAS TODAY!

Santas drunken elves at the us post office finally got TWO missing packages to me just now. A nice lined Orvis jacket thats been somewhere near Dallas since Dec 11th. More importantly my Carbon Akubra Banjo Patterson thats been AWOL since Dec 13th came in too. Beautiful condition. (Box did not even have and foot or **** prints on it)... I was getting worried that a naughty elf had ripped me off! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Interesting... Ive never hat a hat with a fish-skin hatband before lol

Borsalino Homburg - Midnight Blue
4 7/8 Crown as shaped - About 5 1/2 Open
2 1/4 brim to the curl - 2 3/4 to edge
1 5/8 blue grosgrain ribbon with matching binding

Had a second chance to add this dark blue (Cobalto) Borsalino homburg after forgetting to bid on its first go round and fortunately was able to bring it home. Upon arrival I was immediately taken back by how soft, delicate and light weight it was. I haven’t handled an homburg with felt this thin and light weight… almost like that of the Borsalino Featherweight fedoras. Shockingly light. I haven’t had the chance to weigh it as my postal scale ****ped out but I’d imagine this is among my lightest of hats. Definitely the lightest homburg I own.

This thing was rather filthy and required very heavy brushing as well as significant tape Rolling to remove the years and years of dirt and dust. But after that and a quick steam it really came to life revealing its deep dark Cobalto felt. I couldn’t make out the name of the ribbon color on the 50s era Borsalino manufacturing tag.. but it is a very similar color blue to the felt. The ribbon still has its basting threads in place. Really glad I did not make the mistake of letting this one sail on by for a second time!

Yes indeed, Joe. The fellas are right! That Borsalino is a beauty. I love the color and that brim length is well proportioned to the crown. Stingymas is over. That hat looks good on you.

Wool felt Hornskov today. Obviously not as fine a hat as my other Hornskovs, or others in my collection, but I like the look and enjoy wearing it.
The jacket is on heavy rotation as I continue to work on breaking it in.

Dobbs Americana gambler style in NU BRNZ color with long hair finish. Aside from the color it appears to be very similar to my Knox Americana which is shown for comparison. It even has the same color ribbon.
