Thanks Mark. When I purchased this hat I didn't realize that Dynafelt was made of 85% wool, 10% fur, and 5% other fibers ( according to the information on the size tag ), I was hypnotized by that long hair finish. I will say that it is a very heavy hat. Noticeably heavier than Stetson or a Resistol of comparable size.Timmy, I don't believe I've ever seen a grizzly wool, and I don't think anybody can reasonably throw any shade at that one. And I, for one, love seeing, and hearing about, your curling efforts. You haven't shown one yet where you went the least bit wrong, IMO.
Thanks Rob ! By the way , you were rocking that Borsalino yesterday !
You do make the most of it. Well done sir!

Enjoy your weekend!
The tool I bought has both 3/8 and 1/2 slots. Some of the hats I'm thinking about should look good with the 3/8"... But Im thinking some of the BIG ones will benefit from the bigger 1/2" . Additionally I finally broke down and actually bought a Jiffy Hat Steamer ( Im getting tired of accidently steaming the hands with the handheld one or accidntly knocking it off the ironing board lol). Next week should be fun when the new toys arrive here! ( AND another cheap fur felt big cowboy hat that I bought specifically to experiment on)As talented as you are I doubt you will have any problems. What size curl tool did you order ? Mine is a 3/8 inch and usually makes a nice tight, small curl with about 1/2 inch of the brim dipped in boiling water beforehand. When I did the Grey Biltmore long hair cowboy hat a few days ago I mistakenly got about an inch of the brim wet and to my surprise the curl turned out BIG. So much so that this morning I got the brim wet again and then used a hot iron with a towel laying on the felt and made the brim flat again. Then I re- dipped the brim, this time making sure to only wet a 1/2 inch. This time the curl was back to a nice tight curl like I was hoping for. I have it sitting in front of a fan right now drying. Once the curl is good and dry I will then use a little steam to shape the contour that I am looking for and hopefully call it good.
Like you, I am retired too and keep myself busy with all sorts of projects. Just like Neil Young sang... " Rust Never Sleeps ".

Another wonderful Hückel, Steve.J. Hückel´s Söhne / Jaques Mayer "Standard", possibly later 1920s. Gary @The Shoe asked about this hat last weekend so I told him I would wear it this week. This special Soft Felt was custom made for a customer of Jacques Mayer Hutfabrik, Bratislava. I was very lucky to find it back in 2016.
J. Hückel´s Söhne Promotional Pocket Mirror, Otto Abendthum, Zella - Mehlis. I found this Pocket Mirror back in 2017.
Steve, Thank you! The curled brim is 3 1/2 inches and the open crown is 6 inches.Another wonderful Hückel, Steve.
What are the dimensions? Looks like a wide brim and high crown.
Wow! Must be one of the widest and highest Hückels out there, Steve.Steve, Thank you! The curled brim is 3 1/2 inches and the open crown is 6 inches.
Love the overall shape and colour combination, John.Hey folks!
