I’ll tell you something else, waders are a must. I thought I’d tough it out and just wore wading boots over neoprene booties with shorts and my feet ached from the cold (and I didn’t consider going deeper than mid-thigh). Maybe a bit warmer downstream from the reservoir, but where I was you could see several of the glaciers that feed the river...I’m not the smartest man, but ice water is cold!

I’m going to try again next week. As pretty and peaceful as the West Walker River is, I’ll try to find a spot on the East Walker and move up to a 5wt rod. I don’t like fishing where I can see another human, but I’d love to hook into a big Brown! My fishing buddy won’t leave his house these days...let me know if you can make it!

Breaking in? I tell you that fine specimen has miles on the clock, how I love the curve of the brim. And that backdrop has something akin to where I live. We have two rivers The Stour and The Avon, they meet near the sea about 15 miles away, but where they pass through The New Forest, they look as picturesque as that river you are fishing in.

Talk about a senior moment, I mistook this thread for "What Are You Wearing Today," which is why I was so descriptive of my attire, My fifteen lids have been seen enough times, that's why I only lurk on this fabulous thread. And talking of senior moments, my prostrate is causing me more bathroom visits these days, but saying that I have lived here long enough to know that the door opens inwards, in a panic yesterday. I was trying to wrench the door outwards. Nearly wet myself before my missus said, "push it, you silly old fool."

We have a trout farm at one of those rivers, I do so enjoy a fresh trout, but I have to look away when they smack the poor thing on the head. I'm called the hat man at the trout farm, it amuses them when I put my hat over my face as they dispatch the fish. I've probably seen the inside of my hat as mush as the outside. But I do love trout and almonds, wonderful.

Catching wild salmonids is a passion that my father and grandfather passed on to me. I’m not much of a technical fisherman, and I could no doubt benefit from some instruction, but I love it. I catch a few fish too. I like eating them, but I love catching them.

The River Spey is traditionally known for its Spring Salmon, which are deep and firm and fight tenaciously in the fast streams of this challenging river. The Grilse runs can also be excellent; a day in June, fishing with small flies on a floating line in mid river, can be a day to remember. The Spey is also famous for something else, it's the best water for making Scotch whisky, so a wee dram or two won't go amiss.

I was once convinced that I needed a two-handed Spey rod for fishing in the Klamath River for salmon. That rod was too much for me and was later sold, but I’d love to visit its namesake river. Alas, wealth is wasted on the wealthy.

If you are ever in Sonoma CA... Cochon Volant BBQ Smokehouse. Good SH..stuff. Notice that the Barbequed Pork sandwich is already GONE. The beer was pretty good too, North Coast Brewing Co. Laguna Baja, Mexican style dark lager

Thanks, Charlie! This one needed more work than my other two, but a Gorasgu is such a grand model that I can't complain. Took a bit of coaxing to get it this far but I still need to spend some more time with steaming and shaping it. A proper reblocking is probably in order to bring it back to its full glory.

As an aside, I checked out Randolf Engineering a while back after seeing your post and rave reviews. Now I'm seeing their ads pop up all over the place when I'm surfing the interwebs.
