Today belongs to the "Little Dude" This was a Churchill Red River that I snagged for dirt cheap off the bay. See original photo below complete with (don't laugh) fake Crocodile teeth hatband. I cleaned it up, tossed that nasty hatband, steamed it to open crown. Didn't know what to do with it till the other day when I got the Lone Star Dude hat. Took it with me to Texas Hatters and had David match it up to the Dude. David was impressed with the actual quality of the rabbit felt, very beefy / heavy. The brims are the same size but the crown on the Churchill is 1/4" lower than the Lone Star Dude, hence...."Little Dude" ;)

What these very modern light weight felt Borsalinos lack in terms of the Borsalino quality of yore, they make up in terms of funky fun to wear. Had me some fun wearing it today.

Thanks again to Brent for sending this one my way.

Tonak "Triumf" possibly late 1940s. I believe this hat is made of Wool. It's from my NOS Czech find of June 2015. I am not sure the source because all hat companies were combined as Tonak and my guess is that stock (hoods, capelines, semi finished hats, finished hats) was moved from closed companies and branded as Tonak.

It also has a canvas sweatband. This was somewhat common in the wartime era.

Tonak / Janyška & Cie from right after WWII. This is an example of a bulk shipping container that was common in Europe going back to late 19th Century. Janyška & Cie is using the nationalized name Tonak. This box is from the same June 2015 Czech NOS find and it's possible the above hat was sent in this box from Tonak / Janyška & Cie in the late 1940s.

First time wearing this Carlton Club loose weave straw. It arrived crumpled but was easily rectified with steam. It needs a cleaning but overall pretty nice. The open weave on the brim put me off a bit. The sun shines right through. I may end up putting this in the classifieds. I’ll have to give it a couple of wears to see if it’s a keeper.

Hey all!
It was this Homero Ortega Cuenca, my first Panama, that started me down the path to finer and nicer straws. Still a good hat for humid, hot days with it's cloth sweat and not-so-tight weave. Seen here after the marine layer has (thankfully) come in to cool us off.

Yesterday it was the John Batterson. Much greener in person than these early evening pics would have you believe.

I'm about to be wearing a new Boss of the Plains. Went to the Stetson Factory outlet store yesterday to have some blocking done on one of my O'Farrell's and found a Pecan colored BOTP in my size, perfect fit.
So I laid it on a stack of hat boxes near the steaming station and when it came time to leave I totally forgot about it and left it laying there.

Going back today to bring it home. They had two of them so hopefully there wasn't a 'run' on BOTP's in my size yesterday! :)
