A favorite beater that I like all out of proportion to its quality.

My plan is to spend the day at, or above, 7,000 feet and avoid the heat. Tioga Pass is just under 10,000 feet and opened a couple days ago for the first time this season after being closed all winter due to snow (an annual occurrence).

I'm sitting in the sun enjoying the heat, you're making me feel cold with all that snow, Brent. [emoji4]

Great photo though.

I’ve never liked the heat. I’m planning on retiring to the coastal Pacific Northwest in...a few years. Plus, some of our best hatters are up there.

So there was a sunrise, but you just didn't see it. That's a relief! Can't relate to sliding handicaps in golf: I never had a game to begin with. I think Holland may be too small for golf anyway. Hit a ball too hard and you end up in another town!
Japan's small. They drive balls off of multi level driving platforms. I'd like to see it, but so far only in the movies.

Or in the sea!

I often wonder at how such a small country has had such a large impact in world history, the arts, and science, but most of all, how they can be so @&)#×!!! good at soccer, damn it!

And the beautiful women!!! Aghhhh!

What is this “soccer” of which you speak? Could you perhaps be referring to football? ;)

I’m more curious about the vintage hat market Holland has. Apparently every third shop has bins full of vintage hats.

Well, it is football, really, but I wrote "soccer" so that my American friends would understand what I meant. [emoji4]

Hatters? Yes. Snow? No. But each to his own, Brent. The advantage of a colder climate, though, is you can wear felt hats all year round. Not so bad after all [emoji4]

The USA women's soccer team have been fairly unbeatable the last decade at least. It's the World Cup in France at the mo. Looks like USA will win again.

If only soccer would really catch on in the US! I've lost hope of Mexico ever winning the World Cup. We won the gold medal in the Olympics once, but it's not enough.

When I was a kid no one played soccer. It was all little league and Pop Warner. By the next generation, soccer is now the biggest kids’ sport by far where I live. In another generation we might be competitive on the world stage.

American football is another story. Many high schools have dropped it as injuries and the associated civil liabilities have climbed. Courts are starting to rule that the children are not eligible to waive their rights and that a parent/guardian waiver does not hold up when the child comes of age. Schools are seeing lawsuits for knee, ankle, back, shoulder, and brain injuries, and some huge payouts have gotten administrators’ attention. There is starting to be a conversation of what could take its place if it stops being a high school sport. Some say that will never happen, but if it gets expensive enough how could it not? I don’t have a crystal ball, but I look back 50+ years and see all the changes that we then said would never happen that we now accept and I’m not willing to make any predictions.

I'm still waiting for England to win it for a second time, Max. Mexico will have to wait in line [emoji6]
