Thanks Michael, love the feel of a true milan. The fake "florentines" are OK, but nothing beats an original.

Florentines do have tough going for them. But I agree true milans are nicer to wear.

This morning’s hat: Great Plains Hat Company Western with a slightly tapered telescope.
Really digging this style and I might look to augment its representation in my collection.
The brim is 3 1/2 inches. I think 3 would be perfect.

As promise here I am only because a new hat just arrived is ready to be wear

Borsalino Sisol or sisal size 60 centimeters

The hat was made in 1998, but never comes into my hands without ever being worn

Lightweight and very flexible it is finished with a superb care

The measurements are the classic ones: 10 at crown and 6 at brim

The day is marvellous here with bright sky and sun

Thank you. It's twin may arrive today, an ivory for its ebony. Something posessed me to purchase two St. Regis Stetsons last weekend. The second one looked very light in the pictures. I think the seller called it beige, but I'm anxious to see if enough tagging still exists to see what Stetson called it. Maybe silver?

My first thought seeing the badge was symbolism from the time when Russia was really the strongest power standing in the gap, representing Christendom in the face of Ottoman expansion. North of the Bosporus, they were the line. The eagle, however, was usually depicted with a head (or face) looking each way, meaning watchful vigilance.

This hemp is a bit thicker and stiffer than my others and is holding up well to tropical island life. I may go for the larger brim Akubra Range next.

A while ago I received this photo from the grandson of Victor Böhm, owner and chief inventor at Brüder Böhm.

Steve, I'll be damned. How cool to receive something like that from someone so close to it all. In the late 70's I left school and went to work for some of my family selling welding supplies. In one of the industrial parks around Huntsville was a German company named Bruderer that was a customer. They built high speed punch presses capable then of 25,000 pcs. per min. Can't imagine what they might be capable of now if they're still in business. The place looked like a giant hospital surgical suite and sounded as if a hundred machine guns were being shot simultaneously. Anyway, I wonder if there might be some sort of connection, considering the name?
