I've re-creased my Akubra fedoras to get a bubble-less bash. Here are the results:

Akubra Stylemaster Federation Navy (Teardrop?):

My teardrops need some work.

Also, the angle of these pictures may make it look like there is a small bubble. It's just the shadows in the image.

Stetson ‘Genuine Handwoven Formosan’ Straw
Natural color straw
4 3/4 crown
3 1/8 brim (labeled 3 inch)

A bit of lawn work had me go with this new arrival straw Stetson ‘Genuine Handwoven Formosan’ and it was a good choice on this very warm but breezy afternoon. It has a nice weave to it.. but also seems to have some small aeration holes here and there. Not sure if that was part of the weave or if a previous owner maybe got at it with a toothpick or something. Either way they do the job.

A D'Aquino which I completely tore down, reblocked, and rebuilt.

Super job on the rebuild, Jim! Striking colors, too.
I’m finding out that with complete tear downs along with the use of a hat block and flanger comes many hours of hard work per hat.
I’ve got a full refurb Dalton under way right now, including a re-pounce. Only thing left completely alone will be the 1/2 binding featuring 4 rows of decorative stitching.
Well worth all the trouble since it will become part of my personal collection, but too much tedious work otherwise. Unless, this becomes a new career choice and my only source of income. These days I am giving it serious consideration.
House building in this humid summer heat is for younger folks.
Building hats are much easier—with air conditioning.

Thanks, Randall. The color combo didn't change, but I put it on a #52, R&R'ed the crown ribbon, and upgraded the sweat. It had too much taper for me prior to this. I did the same thing with my other D'Aquino.

I enjoy the repairs and rebuilds, I just have trouble finding the time to get to them.

View attachment 256701 Taking my dad’s riding mower to get fixed under this totally rebuilt 50s fairly tightly woven Richman Brothers.
Because the old stitching rotted I had to resew the original leather sweatband together and then sew it back in the hat. The grosgrain hat band is from a 50s Mallory. View attachment 256700
Great looking hat. Glad you were able to get it back in action
