Paper Bailey for morning errands and first visit to a restaurant in ages.

I then spent the afternoon weeding the garden in my kangaroo leather, before settling down to some folk blues and a couple of brews in the shade. All in all, a pretty decent way to spend a Sunday.

Ha ha, thanks Joe. Mine used to look more or less like that, too. The bottom part still pretty much does, but the top is almost completely faded now.

I am wearing the same hat that I posted wearing on Sept 5, 2013. That day it was low 60'f (15.5'c) and today is is 58'f. Similar temp, same hat but an older face.

The text from 2013 fits for today: My Cameo was the hat choice this morning. The Lee Cameo was a lesser priced fedora in the 1950's, but I think it is "styling." The taupe color, excellent felt composition and clean ribbon work make it a favorite.

This week I will feature various shades of Grey German and Austrian Velours. Most will be from the 1930s.

M.W.B. Stolzf. Luxury Velour, 2 3/8 inch brim, 5 1/2 inch open crown, possibly early 1930s. Fantastic Stone Gray Upright Open Velour of high density and maximum gloss. This hat was made for Leineweber, Berlin C Köllnischer Fischmarkt men's clothing store.

Day 16 of 31 Hat Parade: Let's talk Beater/Work hats. Today was off and on rain, gray but mild. I spent a couple of hours revamping a flower bed in the hopes that people might see it at our ACT 4th of July BBQ. This late 1950 Stephen L. Stetson fedora is a fine example. I wear this one while working on sets at the theater, it can take it. This brand of hat is very interesting, Stephen Stetson was a shirt tail relative (as the story goes) of the famous hat maker John Stetson. Most people have heard of that brand. A lawsuit in the 1930s against Stephen was solved by him putting "Never Connected in Any Way" in the company logo.

It might be a beater, Mike, but if that Stephen Stetson hat you found me is anything to go by, they are fine hats in their own right.

Alley Kat Hat Co. 100% beaver moss green hat today on the Masked Corona Crawl down the hill and along the coastal trail to the beach. Low 80s, lots of sun, no surfers, no crowds on the beach, not much surf, but the swimming was great and I got in a little body surfing.
Covid test came back negative, but I put my new lap top computer in a back pack along with a leaky bottle of cough medicine. I am sorry to have to report that it did not respond well to the medication, and the side effects in this case proved fatal. Condolences will be accepted via text. Apple has been notified.

I like that one Stefan. It looks like the color is a lot like my Mirtillo 'burg. More black than blue in many lights.

Joe, Thank you! My guess is it's a Chamois like finish and was produced by a specialty sanding machine so not Velour. Similar to this Brüder Böhm machine. There are also some interesting correspondences regarding the machine.

When I used the word velour I meant it in ‘velour-like’ or ‘velvety’. I have one Stylepark I received recently that says “Genuine Italian Velour” on the sweat. I couldn’t tell you if it is actual velour or not. It is a similar texture... but maybe a bit more dense. And a Borsalino Colombo that matches it very closely.

Rainy walkabout this morning. A walk in the nature reserve provides a sanctuary that I appreciate. I stop the industry guidelines podcast as I enter the reserve and enjoy the no city noise, almost no people, no pandemic talk, no politics and certainly no news time. A glorious hour of the day!

The rain found me sport'n a Stetson Whippet. This hat was purchased in 2013. Soon after the hat arrived I did al lot of steaming and reshaped the crown and dents. I wished for it to be as high a crown as it could be and relaxed the crown dents and side dents.

Above is a pic of a "newer" me (2013) and the new hat. The Stetson Whippet is a plastic coated straw hat. It is a dynamite heavy rain hat.

The hat sheds rain. The ribbon and edge treatment has fared excellent over the years of getting soaked and drying out.
