What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Wearing this ‘Super Borsalino’ that arrived the other day to get some pictures today.

this hat arrived a dirty crumpled mess. After a very thorough brushing and a quick reshaping... it’s now a much less crumped slightly less dirty hat.

I’m very curious if anyone knows anything about this model. Super Borsalino. This one appears to be French or at least was sold at a French hat store. Sools Maitre Chapelier.

I’m not sure what is up with this felt. Which appears either a dark grey or brownish.. depending on light. It is somewhat stiff... which allows for it to keep a razor sharp natural edge.. but it also feels that way in the crown.. (almost like canvas that has become sun dried) however it molds easily into shape still. Can pop it open.. or put in a crease easily. The ribbon is falling off... and under the ribbon the felt is a much lighter colored grey that feels a bit more smooth. I wonder if maybe there was a treatment put on the felt after the ribbon was attached. I don’t think it is just from being extremely dirty as the darker color is fairly uniform on all the exposed parts. Except a small area right on the bottom front of the brim that is lighter... maybe from tipping the brim.

I did find the remnants of a manufacturer label.. but it is rather damaged. The sweat appears to be unreeded and is coming attached in a few spots as the edge of the leather seems sewn directly to the corner of the felt.

I think I see the remnants of either a cellophane or paper liner tip

any thoughts on it are appreciated

The almond trees have just started to blossom. I know it’s winter elsewhere, but Spring has a firm hold here in Central California.

That’s a beautiful hat Brent. I love the triple bow. I have a dark moss but mine doesn’t seem as dark as yours. Gorgeous!

Thanks, Alan. I’m surprised at how versatile dark moss can be. My next will probably have a charcoal ribbon to be more neutral.

Oh, no! Sorry to be confusing (it’s the story of my life, though).
The snow picture was taken five years ago on the day after my daughter’s wedding. Yesterday was her anniversary. I posted these photos to show the hommy, mark the occasion. The snow shot was the day after, also five years ago.

Today I went kind of English banker conservative for church. My gray suit from the Natty Dresser (my Haberdasher) is from my more plump days before I lost 50 pounds. Some tailoring will be in order soon. The spectator shoes are Stacy Adams (a wonderful Christmas Present from the folks) and the classic homburg is a Robert Heath from England c.1950 via Stefan. Of course, my father's railroad pocket watch is my companion of late. My goal is to not just post "drive by" hats and to get back into the swing of living here on the louge...darn Facebook!

Tirard Ragondia, homburg or "diplomatique" made in France in the fifties

One of my favourite of the bunch. I like the coordinations of the color, a monocolor

The weight of the Tirard (the first of the famous brands hats to close in 1956) is less of many others homburgs I have. It is a glove

I stroll the streets in old downtown Galveston today with my Phoenix Musketeer Lite. This is one of the few parts of the city to survive the great storm of 1900. Prior to that, Galveston was to the U.S. what New York City is today.
