R. & M. Wegener possibly late 1920s. This is one of my rarest finds. It's my only pre 1940 R. & M. Wegener Soft Felt and the only one here on the FL. I have seen a couple others over the years but they were small sizes.

That straw is really in good shape for it's age. Love that pug.

That conversion really turned out great. It now has lines that I could wear.

...I like this shape. Is this one a "heavy" straw. I felt one at Mike Miller's and thought it was really thick...
Without intending to speak for Bob, Sunbody's hats are indeed thicker and heavier than their "traditional" straw counterparts. But the Guatemalan palm leaves they use, and their hats' construction, provide better protection from the sun's harmful rays, so that's the trade-off; you won't see any "sunlight coming through the weave" photos of a Sunbody hat. They're also a bit rough around the edges so they really aren't suitable for anything more than casual or semi-casual wear. But if you're in the market for a nice casual straw-like hat that offers good sun protection, you could do worse.

That one makes an impression. Loads of crown there.

Wow! I would agree with Greg. If that were mine I'd find a pre-1930 beaded hat band and "cowboy" (or Indian) it up some. Great colors and shape. Congrats!

A real treasure, Steve. Thanks for posting this one. I love the hat industry pamphlet, too.
