First of all I want to thank you all loungers for the affection shown. It is difficult for me to reply individually, but I am sure that each of you will receive my thanks.

Second seasonal hat
709mxj.jpg

It has been woven in Peru in little town of Catacos, near the border of Equador, and it arrived as a gift two years ago, unfinished and with an uncertain shape

The day is gray and wet and the long walk made me sweat

The northern part of Verona is in confusion for a series of construction sites that compromise the road network and even on foot it is not easy to get to the office

Have a nice day and more to come in the "Post new hat here"

Amazing hat, Daniele!

Thanks! It's from the Straw making center Firenze, Italy. I believe this same mark came up recently and I couldn't find anything. It's probably a made up mark for export. Does it have a paper label behind the sweatband? Maybe Daniele knows something.

Update: I just realized, this probably Is the same hat. :)

I posted this hat almost two years ago in the boater thread but there wasn't much information available. There is no paper label behind the sweatband.

Thanks! I thought it was more recent. As I mentioned I couldn't find anything. I tend to think it's a made up trademark for export. Maybe Daniele has some idea on what Firenze Hat Company made it.

Another nice one Bob! I like the thin ribbon and campaign bow.

Wow, what a hat. Looks great on you, Bob. Never heard of this hatter either--Have you got a date on this one?

Thanks guys! I can't pinpoint the date. The group from the same auction ranged from 1929 to 1953 for known dates. I would put this one toward the end of that range, but it's just a guess. The union label makes it post-1934.

Off to the movies. Sicario? Yawn... a great movie that went nowhere. If the premise is ONLY to set you up for a sequel then my critique is "thumbs down, wait for it to come out on Netflix."

But we had fun being out and about. I wore red, white and blue, including my grade 12 Panama with navy ribbon customized at NW Hat Co, and my 1776 Edmonds spectators with flag-waving doggie socks!

Ha! Thank you, Max! I tied a knot that's lasted 44 years! I'm 64. My Granddaughter is 20. Definitely got to get the Son in Law properly hatted!

Thanks again on the Resistol, but yeah, PM me anytime with pics of the crowns you made. I'd love to see them.
64!? What's your secret to aging? You look maybe 40, tops. Your granddaughter looks more like your daughter.

Ha! Thank you, Weslynn. I get asked that question all the time. The only thing I can think of is beer, brats, and staying busy with yard work. Plus, I have a great big God who looks out for me since I'm not smart enough to look out for myself. When my granddaughter was about two or three the wife and I took her to buy her some shoes. The shoe sales man figured correctly that my wife was the grandmother, but guessed incorrectly that I was the dad. My wife still throws that one up to me.
