50s era 3x Stetson for me today

Mike and his wife just had a baby a couple of weeks ago. He was back at the shop only 3 days later... He is probably a little sleep deprived. I'm going down for a visit on Thursday and I will report back.

No worries. I get that in the big picture hats aren’t all that important. Just give him my congratulations and tell him that his work is worth the wait.

With pleasure! Will post in 'New Hats' thread as it was a very recent purchase. Made by Beaverbrook Hats. Not much history. But there is a hint of history that the manufacturer was located in Connecticut.

The beaver fur is extremely soft and nicer to the touch than my Akubras. I do think the Akubras will probably stand up to a beating a little better, but this is by far the most sophisticated styling of any hat I own. My go-to is and probably will still be my Fed IV Deluxe though. The Stetson is great suit hat and will probably be my dressy go-to. The sweatband of my Fed IV is much nicer than the one on the Stetson, which I am a little disappointed by. The felt on the Stetson, although soft to the touch, is a little stiff, which is probably fine considering the shape of the hat is important to its look and the stiffness will keep the shape in place. Overall, I would give it a 7.6 if a 10 is a perfect hat. That score takes into account the value at the price point and everything. If I had to do it over again, I would probably buy it again as I am very happy with the purchase. I did forget when I picked out the color that I had a gray Mallory Holburg coming from a fellow member, but I could probably find different uses for the two hats.

Very late 50s to early 60s is my guess. Nice Mode Edge to it and the felt is superior.

Thanks Red. The jacket is a good design for transitional weather. It buttons to the collar if needed and has great pockets for biking. Love your panama, great band on it.
