Cool hat, great suit, Michael.
Thanks Stefan

A new one today. I picked this up as a size 58 hat (for one of my fellow loungers maybe), but when I got home I found a label with the size 57 on it. In actual fact it barely fits my 56 sized head. Overbeck in black with a nice triple stitched brim binding. Overbeck doesn't ring a bell, but it resembles a hat I have made by Mayser.

Lovely new hat. Perhaps it will shrink to fit? Great coat as usual.

A little foggy and cold this morning on my trip out in search of steak. Grab and go Dobbs Twenty with guild edge until the afternoon sunnyness.

Very nice sheen to that Twenty, Red. All around great looking hat.

...Today I'm off to Mass wearing a Dobbs.

I'm fascinated by how well the moire pattern on the ribbon goes with your corduroy coat; it's almost a shame it's only visible in photographs. Even without it, they make a great pair!

Thanks, I'll make note of that date, it at least gives a starting point. I had looked it up before, but this old brain...
You're welcome! I realized long ago that I didn't need to actually remember such facts and figures--I only needed to remember how/where to look them up. ;)

The colors on that hat (and just about everywhere else in your wardrobe today) are just incredible.

Thanks to all for your likes and kind words of late. I appreciate them all.
Today it’s a favorite Borsalino Nutria 2X Feather Weight. No tags for color and model. A very thin obedient felt with a very demure felted welt. The liner is a bit unusual. I enjoy wearing this one often.
Be well. Bowen
Fantastic Borsalino.
Hey all!
This mushroomy-colored Young's from the 40's came to me a few years ago tattered, beaten and partially eaten. Not only had moths chewed through it in several spots, but what was left of the ribbon and brim binding looked as though mice had carried off the rest. The thrift store manager just gave it to me because it was in such bad shape. It was one of my early refurb projects, so a good learning experience.
It has been sitting around unworn for quite a while with a hand-stitched brim binding I wasn't happy with. Last night I decided to try something different. Dyed up a grey ribbon with just a touch of brown in the mix. Pulled off the binding, made a nice simple bow. I noticed afterward there were a few small flaws in the dye job, but not enough to really bug me so I left it alone. Tried to iron it flatter, but this old dead felt is just wants to be lumpy so I gave up and just let the hat look as thrashed as it wants.
I like how a brown tibbon on a grey hat looks. The opposite isn't bad either!
A Young's, young no longer... but still kicking!

Great Dobbs Mike.
Had no intention of leaving the house today, of course SHE had other ideas. Standing in the deli line at the grocery store, the clerk asked who's next? A fellow next to me said, "the fellow in the Stetson." Wish you had seen his face when I told him it was a Cow Lot. That started a hat discussion, which is always fun.

Very cool hat with a neat background, Greg.

Not just any Dobbs, by the looks of it, Matt. Beautiful lid.
Most excellent Dobbs Matt. Great brim and the ribbon color sets the whole thing off.
How very Whippet-esque. Always enjoy this nice Dobbs Matt. Brim binding is bold!
Thanks to each of you for the kind words.
