Thanks Matt. The painting is a self-portrait of my Dad from the 1960s. His house is filled with work painted from the 1940s up to recent years. We don't have much unfilled wall space at our house but I've always liked this one. I brought it back with me after he passed away in December.

I'm sorry, Alan, I didn't realize. He seems like he was a consummate gentleman and I always enjoyed the shots you would post of him and the two of you.

He obviously did a good job as a Dad, too.

"Beautiful hat"

Isn't it wonderful to have a place that is so genteel? Where folks say thank you, mean it, and compliment each other on a regular basis. The old school values shown to each other here are appreciated.

Give us time, my friend. Sooner or later we'll give you a hard time about something!

Not that horse, though. He's a hoot.

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've been on the form, but I wanted to stop in and say hello. I ran into a guy on the elevator at work yesterday wearing an Akubra Fed IV. Couldn't believe I saw one in the wild. We struck up a quick 30 second conversation about our love of hats in quick elevator ride. It made me miss all the back-and-forth here on the forum. I'm sorry I don't have the time to be on here like I used to. But I do check in and read the wisdom of the group from time to time.

Meanwhile, hat check. Wearing the D'Aquino today. It's as comfortable as ever.

Great to see you, Dave. Looks like the D'Aquino is getting still giving good wear. Stop back more often if you can. You're missed.

Thanks, Es! Yup, my own version of an anniversary was last night. Every year, I mark it at midnight, February 13, because that was when I slide that rock onto her finger to get the ball rolling back in 1979. Following a 180 mile late night drive through a blizzard in a borrowed yellow Chevrolet Chevette, (don't EVER tell Harv I drove that, please) I arrived at her doorstep just before 12. Thank G-d she let me in! We married in September of that year. She's starting to get used to me!

What a great story, Charlie. Wish mine was that cool.

I got my wife at a department store. (I was cameras, she was small electric repair)

A hatalanche! You may have outdone our other wordsmith, @mmbarnes!

Yeah, I'm stealing that.

It's 44 years today for me and the woman I love. Just hope the wife don't find out!

Mine gives me dirty looks when I refer to her as, "My first wife."

Just passed 25. I have a ways to go to catch you.

Mine gets mad when I introduce her as my wife by marriage.

Well, it’s like I always say, if I could swim across the Atlantic I would.
I don’t think he has, he likes big loud V8’s and all that ;).
He likes to make fun of my family for liking VW’s. Silly Europeans and all. [emoji16]

I drove a 1968 Austin America for a short time. Bought for $35, sold for $60 after I sealed up the floor on the driver's side so snow stopped accumulating underfoot as it drove. Loved that Mr. Bean car. I had one before he did. I could actually lift up the rear end, but I was a younger, stronger man then.

Hey, Dave!! STILL lovely D'Aquino, Bro! Must be one of those telepathy things happening, here. YESTERDAY, I was thinking about the time your Mom bought "little Davey" a nice hat in the outlet store. My own mother (90 years of age) inquired about the Panama she bought me for a b-day a few years back, and that reminded me of how nice it is to have a Mom do that... that was just yesterday.
Ha! I was just wearing that hat yesterday and decided it was worth a cleaning and steaming. After all, it's my mom hat!

Very nice, very nice. I’m sure that’s what he had in mind when he painted it. Nice tribute.
