I like the way the sunshine plays with the color on this Dobbs. What color is it for reals? Black? Dark Purple?

A favorite ribbon conversion you have done. That color makes me happy.

Beater = Character. I have this one's brown cousin. What does the sweat/liner look like?

Black beauty Justin.
Thanks Mike!
Love that new-to-you tie!

I am not sure of the age yet. I do need to look thru the Dobbs threads for better placement. The box is not the original so not much help in dating. The crown is 5.25", brim 2.25" and the leather sweat reads "Designed and Detailed by George Wally, Broadway at 38th Street, New York. It sure is a glorious inky blue.

More pics. The inside pics with flash do not show color, but general dimensions. Snowy outside conditions keep me inside in answering your query.

Best, Eric -
A quick check of the Professors website shows these round Dobbs logos from the early 40s to just after the war. I tried to find Mr. George Wally, at that address, he was probably a hatter. Detailed and Styled is interesting, didn't think there was much to do to a nice Dobbs out of the box. Maybe a new crease? The address brings up a picture of the Knickerbocker Theater on East Broadway (which was torn down in 1930, so he might have been in the new building)

, no luck on the other side of town. I'm digging through the business directory from 1945 to see if he turns up. Newspaper ads are next.

I was asked about the height of the Germania hat yesterday (or friday; I forget). I checked and found that the perceived height is due to the center dent being quite deep. The sides of the hat are a good inch higher than the pinch. It seems to have been blocked fairly narrow too, which gives it more visual height as well. Anyway: here are the shots (both brim up and as a fedora).

I found the store in which our George Wally probably did his hat styling. The Manhattan 1946 phone book lists a high end men's cloting store, Kolmer & Marcus at this address. Old George probably had a custom hat service within this establishment. Can't prove it for sure, as he is not listed as a separate business in the directory. This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

And in case you want to give him a call, here is George in the listings.

Was gifted a pair of dungarees today to go with my new (for me) Stetson....

These are some spiffy jeans... their stiffness and durability remind me of the U.S. Navy bell bottoms we wore 20 years ago when I was serving.

Been a few years since I was seen in western trousers though...

The 3X looks good, too, of course. I haven’t even taken it off to eat since I got it.

Haha, thanks! That red cloth was a blindfold we used for a performance a few years ago. I’ve been wearing it as a neck tie ever since. It compliments all of my hats in unique ways.

This is by far the most “cowboy” I’ve ever looked and I’m not sure I like it (even with the sandals, which would never work in the U.S. but in Asia they are standard issue with any outfit)....

I know too many real cowboys and have too much respect for their work and lifestyle to want to portray myself as one - especially since I’m about as far from a cowboy as a fellow born in Texas could ever be.
