Slight irrelevant drift, but wanted to share something about UK - US English difference reminded to me by this comment. No judgment or ill intent intended, I just still find what happened mildly funny.

When I came to the UK in 1990, I had to get a tux ("dinner jacket" in UK). I went to the shop and said to the really cute girl (trying to chat her up) "I need some suspenders to go with my ahem... dinner jacket" (really proud that I got the British term right). The really cute girl starts choking and when she stop trying to strangle her laughter, kindly explained to me that in the UK (I had a strong California accent back then) "suspenders" are used by women to hold up their stockings (can't remember the US term now) and "braces" (what? Those are for teeth?!?) are what men use for holding up trousers (not "pants" as this is underwear in the UK). I tried to salvage the situation, but she turned me down for a date, but I probably gave her a good story to laugh over with her friends after.

Anyway, tomato, tomahto.. [emoji3]. Have a spiffing day chaps, wot wot.

I ran into the same word dilemma when working with my UK counterparts at a recent corporate event. My US coworkers and I were in a suspenders vs. belt debate and the UK peeps couldn't stop laughing at us.

I was in Scotland a few weeks ago for work. I always wear suspenders to church. Anyway, same story. A young lass had to explained the difference between suspenders and braces.

Yes, I really love the color.....modern Stetson....color is their silver-belly though this one is MUCH more tan and has a real natural look. I have others of their hats in silver-belly and this one is much different.......great color.....and the specs on mine are different than advertised....you may wish to inquire if you order one.....mine may be a one off...........the ribbon is wide (a hair under 2") and really well done!

I have a Grand Central I picked up a couple months ago at the outlet in Garland. I just measured the ribbon and it's just shy of 1 3/4". I agree about the color. More a light tan than the normal silverbelly. But I really like it. The wife and I are headed to Alaska this Sunday for two weeks. That is the hat I'm taking with me. Casual enough for everyday site seeing yet dressy enough for nice dinners dates on shore and on the cruise.

I will now be in search of this Grand Central! Thanks for the information!

Thanks! I actually don't know for sure. On the hat it says "genuine panama," which is all you can really find out about it online. If it's genuine toquilla straw, then it has been died. You can still find this model online:

https://www.hatcountry.com/bailey-gill-panama-straw-fedora-hat-closeout.html

Just beware that the online photos are color-inaccurate. Mine is definitely a rich mocha-brown -- not a mossy color like in the inventory pics.
I'm a 7 1/4 and I wear this one in a size large for a perfect fit =)

I haven't had the chance to check out the Retro. The Casa Blanca is kind of stiff. I had to steam it a bit to be able to snap the brim down. It might be the one I got, bought it off Amazon. I like because it has a leather sweatband. My Biltmore Westend has a fabric sweatband. It never fit right and the sweatband kept flipping inside-out when I would take the hat off. It drove me crazy! I do want a vintage straw one day.

Check out miamibruno on the auction site, he just listed a few.

That is interesting that I have a wider ribbon on mine......does yours have the 2 1/2 inch brim as well? I was not sure if they were all the same.....
And yes, the color is really nice and not like their other silver-belly hats! I agree about the look being dressy as well as a good everyday wear........
I am really pleased with mine.....

Nope, 2 3/8" brim. The pictures make it look lighter than it is.
