A vtg.Stetson Stratoliner was my hat of choice for morning chores. The bigger brimmed Playboy, 2 7/8," is a silverbelly hued felt. I enjoy wearing this hat.

Unfortunately when shoveling out the fire pit this morning I knocked it off my head and it was dirtied in the cold ashes. Not dusty, but soiled. I have the hat cleaning in a white gas bath and will give it a brushing and steam this afternoon when the white gas has evaporated. Should be good to go by early evening.

Vtg. hats are meant to be worn and they are surprisingly durable.

A beauty of a hat Eric and I'm sure you will have it back to it's pristine condition. I have not had any issues removing ash with a naptha dunk. I still worry a bit when I see what hats you wear when doing chores (but I know that I "can't have nice things" and always choose a beater hat when working outside).

Off to the jobsite this morning in a vintage Resistol 100.

Dang WK! That is a grail hat for sure and looks great on you!

It is in the 50s here this morning. Pilgrim for coffee in the sunshine

Love that Pilgrim Michael! It probably makes the coffee taste that much better.

What is "white gas", Eric? White gasoline? I've heard the term "gasolina blanca" in Mexico. Is it that? I read in another thread about a "naphta bath". Which one is better?
And the hatter I took it to the other day in Mexico City mentioned a "perclorato"... Have you heard of a "perchlorate" bath?
If you use a white gas bath, won't the hat smell of gas even after drying?

You've inspired me, Michael. I will wear mine today, even if I don't plan to leave the house.
It is US Open and new hat brushing, steaming, stretching, and cleaning day. I haven't had time to do it since returning from Wisconsin, and this time I came back with 21 hats again, so it will take a while.

Very nice Perry. I do love the curl of your brims.

Downright frigid here today at 71 degrees. Modern Borsalino to keep my head warm

Well Eric, this accident is excused. Just don't let it happen again. The same thing could have happened in 1955, the owner would just take it to his local hat shop and have it spiffed up. We have to be the stewards today in the absence of a hat store on every corner.

Have a good one,
Michael
It will be time for us to dust off our jackets this week, rainy NW weather is finally back. We have had no measurable rain since June! Love the Pilgrim, nice crease!

Stetson temple. Cool and rainy today so this is the perfect hat. Got this on Amazon for $62. Bought it while I was being wheeled out if the hospital. Can't be too careful, the price may go back to normal at any time.

Great looking Stetson, you wear it well.

Super Rand this morning Bob.

After about 2.5 days of rain, Gordon has moved out and it appears fall has moved in. Low 60s this morning and it's not likely to get much warmer.

Gannon in Moss Green today.
