LOL!!Excellent observation, Jim. And he does.
But I don't let him get the final say.
Although I will let him wear my hats sometimes. That seems to minimize any festering resentment he may be harboring.
Outstanding Bowen! Love the Petersham ribbon.View attachment 110767 View attachment 110768 View attachment 110769 View attachment 110770 View attachment 110771 View attachment 110772 Greetings All:
No Fawcetts here so it’s Flagship Friday. Pretty ok hat. Petersham ribbon, 3 seam wafer underwelt and my favorite embroidered liner. Think it’s 40s but purdy nice shape.
Hey Moe, look familiar?
As always thanks for the nice feedbacks.
Be well. Bowen
What a beautiful example of a hat. It has great proportions. Thanks for bringing it out and describing it.
"...styles ran the gamut to offer a scale and form for any face, any time of year." Your comment reminds me how interesting it is to browse the American Hatter on Google Books and see all of the different shapes and styles offered in the ads. It is unfortunate that it is so difficult to locate examples that represent that diversity. That seems especially true of the soft felts.
I pine for a tall, square-crowned stiff felt. From a stylistic standpoint those remind me of a snapshot from somewhere in the middle of the evolution from top hat to the lower crown stiff felts of the thirties and forties. Just fantastic...
Oh well... One day...
Enjoy.

Unsure about the law badge but I love it otherwise. Don't you have a similar green hat?Getting in a green frame of mind, but only have a couple of green hats in the rotation. That’s why I’m repeating with the Resistol Trooper.
That’s unique enough to make it really stand out. The brim treatment and ribbon are awesome.View attachment 110767 View attachment 110768 View attachment 110769 View attachment 110770 View attachment 110771 View attachment 110772 Greetings All:

Alan, you're killin' me. Man, what great hats you have been showing recently. Keep it up!Age before beauty.
100 years ago was glory time for hats and styles ran the gamut to offer a scale and form for any face, any time of year. This diminutive beauty gives away nothing to its 8" tall siblings, except size. A 6x3, curled to present a 2 1/4" brim width, shows its place in the century club with a wide sweatband with rolled edge, The Fray imprint, a large scalloped size tag and stub bow at the sweatband seam. It is a bit too small for me to show how it might be worn open or creased but that never stops me from giving it a go.
The Huggy Bear! It has been neglected of late. It has a 70s vibe that can't be beat! I just don't have the disco moves anymore to do it justice. I'll wear it tomorrow, just for you Matt. There are green highlights in the feathers somewhere.Mike...
In my book, that hat is right up there at the top of your collection. And it simply looks great on you.
Speaking of favorites... where is that funky narrow brimmed homburg (if I recall correctly) with the feathered hat band? That's thing's such a groovilicious lid!
Really a fantastic hat Rick. Love the innards of this one.Peters Bros. Shady Oak Forty

The colors on this Milan are to die for David.Peters Bros Milan

I like that ribbon color. Have to file that one away for later. You have plenty of crown to playwith. I like the organic pinches at the present.Gannon in steel beaver with blue metal ribbon. First wear, still not happy with the crease, but it’s the nicest felt yet from Gannon. I also dig how the felt and ribbon change personalities in different light.
It’s a first for me but I’m going to lower the crown a bit and give it a deeper crease.

I enjoy seeing this French creation. You can wear it as often as you want. I won't complain.Hey all!
Just gotta wear this Ecuyer & Thomas for Motsch Fils. I will most likely need a raincoat with it, but at this moment the sun is out.
Have a great day!

Until reading the later posts, I didn't know the adornment was a wifey ear ring. It kind of reminds me of a Japanese Imperial Chrysanthemum. Cool look!Getting in a green frame of mind, but only have a couple of green hats in the rotation. That’s why I’m repeating with the Resistol Trooper.
Love the bow and liner on this one. That case is a treasure. Are they like the high end cases for hats like our 100s?Hückel Weilheim "Exclusiv" probably later 1950s.
