I thought Homburgs would have a wider brim. I might be mistaken of course.
It varies. I have homburgs with brim widths between 4,5 en 6,5 cm. The blocking and taper are different from hat to hat as well. What they do have in common is the way the brim curl is facing inwards; not as sharp as with old bowler hats (which tend to lie horizontal), but close to that. This one resembles hat styles from the twenties and thirties; a softer felt hat with some brim curl, but not the formality of a homburg. It would be quite a common style at the time. Quite a cool look if you ask me.

Such a great hat, Jim. And the finishing on that liner is superb!

Thank you, Stefan. You should feel the felt. It's suede-like.

Very good looking homburg, Jim. You know you need more of them.

Still wrking n it, my friend. I am seduced by the allure f wide brim fedoras, though.

Love the lines on that Champ Michael. Brim work is super.
Thanks Red. I suspect this one will be showing up more as it warms up. Or I should say, when it warms up.

Very nice looking lightweight felt, Michael.
Thanks Stefan. It's very light on the head, but unfortunately likes to float like a feather too. A wind trolley would be useful on this one.

And with that in mind, I switched to something a bit heavier and tighter fitting this afternoon as the wind picked up. Royal OR out of the '50s.

I'm pretty fond of this color too. And I would guess that it's my usual OR, that is I probably wear it almost as often as all of my other ones combined. Seems to sit on my head particularly well.

Handsome homburg, Matt. You don’t see many Resitol burgs. What’s the vintage on that one? Perfect brown color.

Thanks D.

From what I've read around here about trademarks and letter shapes in "Resistol" on the sweatband, I conclude that this is a 1950s product.
If I touch it on my laptop screen, it feels really smooth Matt. But I agree, this one is tops in my book.
Thanks Mike.
Very nice classic looking bowler, Matt. Look great in that light.
Thanks Stefan.
That hat just blows me away! Never seen anything prettier.

Thanks DD. Sweet mancave and Campdraft, today.
Excellent hat, Matt. It's hard to explain to the non-hat collectors the sheer variety there is in the feel and finishes of felts.
It is. Some of my non-collector friends are starting to understand. I try to let folks handle my hats if they express interest. It's neat to see them start to recognize the craftsmanship and artistry involved.
