Hey folks!
A brief break in the weather. Vanzina Pavia up top today.

Thanks... the color is crayola pine green.
Fabulous. The mode edge on that one looks particularly good as well. Awe inspiring felt. If you see a dark navy model (who am I kidding? any color would be over the top!) in size 7-1/2, just send it my way!

Is there a specific word to describe the bow and stitching on this one, Alan? I just love it. I see Bob Jesse do some of his customs this way.

New to me Pendleton sport coat arrived today. Swapped out the jacket and hat and it seems to work ok. I was trying to practice my serious look but it's hard for me to pull off. :)

Nice. It's odd taking selfies, at least for me... and there's a process to go through in order to get good pics. I'm still a work in progress and you look fine!

Thanks! This mode-edge is an early essay in felted edge for Stetson. It is very subtle, without the voluptuous relief of later versions. The felt is of very nice quality. I only remember seeing one other pre-war Imperial Stetson with these markings - a homburg, I believe - posted to the Lounge. There are later examples. This hat uses a stitched in place wind trolley button that holds the cord, which is meant to loop over a jacket button. I have other hats with this arrangement that date from the same period - late 1930s to 1940. I bought this hat from the owner's family. He passed away in 1943.

You are the champ Michael. I do like that color of blazer, light and springy.
Thanks Red. Yes, time for some lighter colors and weights. I need to pack up a tote of wool pants and unpack one of cotton pants soon.

Such a great look Michael! Love the hat, of course, but the jacket is "gravy".
Thanks Bob. The jacket is one of 4 I picked up the other day. I'll probably try out another one tomorrow.

You look like a Champ, buddy! From head to toe, excellent. Love the Champ, the jacket is to die for, and I'm a fool for any kind of saddle shoes or spectators.
Thanks Doug. I'm a fan of saddle shoes too. Wish I could run across some nice spectators that fit me. No luck. I think this jacket may be my favorite from the recent batch.

After finishing up the annual user conference last week I took some much needed time off to work on the garden. Now I'm back in the office! I donned the Blue Monkey #3 today -- I nicknamed it the "speakeasy".

And in honor of Holy Thursday, I refined the cross on the bow a bit:

Cheers!
When I see you I wish I had the courage to begin wearing hats when I was your age.

Yes T Rexes used to roam the Earth then

A nice piece of work c.1940... 3X clear beaver but was it fifteen dollars back then? Not sure.

That hat is too fantastic. What a gorgeous color. It must have been on the pantone list back then because I have an overcoat with a 1939 union tag date that would match it quite well.
