Yep... no driving through water. You never know how deep it's going to be!You both will look snazzy as you avoid the floods and rain up there. Stay safe my friend!

Charlie, Thank you! Yes this one has a very short brim. This form was popular in Central Europe at the time. It's a bit different than what you see in the later 1950s and the 1960s. The crowns are taller and you see less taper from the side view. The brims can vary in width but can have a high degree of flange. So crisp and new-like, after all these years!! Looks almost like a sixties lid. Another eye-popper, Steve!
Harv, Thanks! Beautiful Dobbs 15!I like that one Steve. Looks good.on you!
Thank you! Sharp looking Penman custom!Fantastic day in and day out, Steve. I love your hats!
Celia, Thank you too! It's a very wearable hat. Hopefully the mystery will be solved. Maybe the WISKO Stiff Felt you pointed me to will lead to something. Great hat from you yesterday!Great to see that one on your head as well! I hope one day you'll discover the origin of those mystery hats...
"Into everyone's life a little rain must fall", sung by the Ink Spots, circa 1944. I have been coveting this hat for some time, what does the liner and sweat look like? Is the quality worth looking into? Stay dry my friend, SoCal folks melt in the rain!
Of course, I love the Gannon. How could you not? I'm more interested in the airplane pin, can I see it closer? 4 engines, a true Boeing Stratoliner?
Thanks, Bruno.
Thanks, Blue. You're right... It would be a very ugly cage match.
Of course... you'd win. I am a weak and cry easily.
Thanks Mike.
Much obliged, Jim.
Those sound like challenges. I think that the answers are (or easily can be) "yes". Do I have to provide photographic evidence?
On the third and fifth, my understanding is a little unclear. Can I gloat and glower while wearing the hat? Or should I remove it beforehand?
I LOVE the rain!! I think So-Cal folks worry less about melting in it, and more about driving in it haha. PLUS I'm Asian, so I'm at risk behind the wheel no matter what the weather!
Anyway -- The D'Aquino or the L&C? Both are great hats! D'Aquino is a very sturdy and malleable hat, but the L&C is MUCH higher quality. I did have to re-tack the sweatband (which became totally undone shortly after I started wearing it) and that, in turn, necessitated a re-tacking of the ribbon (which had become lopsided over the decades, so I needed to re-tack it anyway). View from inside of the L&C:
The D'Aquino is certainly lower quality, but is still a strong and comfortable lid. I would compare the feel of the fur and sweatband to my Akubra Fed IV standard quality. After about two months, the ribbon at the sweatband seam started to fray, but since the ribbon in this case is mostly decorative, it's not a big deal to me. The liner is synthetic and the branding "D'Aquino Hats" on the crown of the liner has almost entirely faded. I was disappointed to see that the liner is glued at the crown, but I'm sure Luisa would have no problem skipping that step if you made it a requirement. Interior:
In short -- I love both hommies! If you find a Lock & Co in EUC, you'll certainly be pleased. If you're looking for a solid, inexpensive custom homburg for everyday wear and you want to skip the ebay shenanigans, then I would recommend D'Aquino 100%.
Thank you Red!Super bash on this one! Love the brim width Harv! kewl!
Sounds good. That makes it less work.Heck, you can wear it with a glower in the shower on a boat with a goat and then gloat. All at the same time. But I at least need proof of the goat.
Strictly for research purposes, of course.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Luisa gave me a removable liner for my second one.

Thanks for this! I am interested in trying a D'Aquino Homburg, they are available and appear to be well made. If I find a Lock & Co., all bets are off!I LOVE the rain!! Take it easy and feel better soon.
Beautiful Adam, Eric.
Hope that you kick the crud quickly. Stinks that the best hat time of the year is also the worst for illness. Here's to good health & good hats!
The Adam is a stunner Eric! Love a little shark gill in the morning! You get to bed and mend, you can put this hat on your night stand and it's healing powers will flow over you!
I love these pins, I need to track one down for my modern Stratoliner in sage that I got from Moon. I would hate to have to put a pin on it concurrent with it's vintage (2014?), maybe a 737? Noooooooo!Red, I do have a vintage Stratoliner pin, but this one is a vintage TWA Lockheed Constellation
Cheers!
David
Tough guy! Thanks sir. I hope the ice did not create havoc for you.
Thanks. Good health wishes back at you.
Thanks Mike. I appreciate the good health wishes.
Weak, but facing the day I took inspiration from Davids morning post to don my Gannon Wanderer in blue. Love the blue felt. I headed outside for another short dog walk. Perhaps I can walk my flu away.
Grapefruit juice and chicken broth have steeled me to head back to work in a Cordova Cap.
Cheers, Eric -

Stopped by the imitation palatial estate on my way into the office. I convinced myself to pry the Garfinckel's 'burg off of my head for the '46 Vita-Felt Stetsonian.

This hat displays well. Is it on some special golden hat stand, or brass?
