Douglas -- Let's face it, you have a ton of amazing lids. That being said, IMHO, the Stetson Playboy really, really suits you well. The last couple that you have posted look fantastic. I'd be curious to know if you happen to feel the same way about those particular lids.

Very nice.

Cheers,
JtL

Modern Stetson Chatham, as always. My main point of posting here is to demonstrate that a fedora and dinner jacket do work together, even if more daring than the correct homburg. Please excuse poor picture quality but it's hard in a dark room with just a computer webcam. More pictures will be up in the appropriate thread next Wednesday (this was just me trying on the outfit to check the fit).

That last pic, from the "Little Tramp", was taken about a half mile from where I was...that little scamp. But I had a slice of pepperoni pizza and Diet Coke at Bronco Billy's Pizza and I bet neither Billy or Charlie had a taste so good back then ;)

They didn't look as good in a Fedora either! You wear those Fed IV's well Goose - and that Fawn color suits you well.

Thanks man,in short, yes JtL. Iv'e become quite fond of the playboy. The weight of the felt ,the simple sharp detail of the brim stiching, The crown hight and ribbon width are all factors. Mostly though it is just really comfortable to wear. I have been on a kick lately of wearing the lighter felts be it The Playboy, Cross Country, Week-Ender or similar hats,I think the type fits me. I have five Playboys in different colors and periods. The older ones are lighter and thinner but they all are right in line with my tastes. It has become my favorite Stetson model. I will definitely be on the look out.

My mother-in-law is visiting, so we drove up to Cripple Creek today, and I wore my 1920s Dobbs Derby. I like to think of it as my lucky hat, since the last time we went to Cripple Creek, I came back $75 richer playing the penny slots.

Alas, I think my mother-in-law cancelled out the effects of the lucky hat, as I didn't win today.

Anyway, while in the Cripple Creek district, we drove up to the American Eagles mine overlook, at 10,750 feet above sea level, to see the mining operations today (pit mining). At the overlook they've preserved the remains of the 1895 American Eagles mine, so here I am at the hoist.

And since derbies were a working man's hat in the Wild West, here's an action shot in the remains of the hoist house, operating the drum hoist. Okay, pretending to operate...

:eek:fftopic: Goose, when you get to Niles again you need to go see the films at the Niles Silent Film museum. Our deco friend Frederick Hodges plays piano accompaniment to many of the films there- he's amazing!

Thanks ValEag. I really do like them. Jury's still out on preference of Tawny or Heritage Fawn...but I'm leaning towards the Heritage shade.

Will have to check out the museum. That mural drawing is actually on the side of the museum. Guess they have things going on there often...saw on a sign that they are having a Bronco Billy film festival there this weekend.
