Everyone looks great this Happy 4th of July. Great collection of lids.

It was kind of cool this morning on my front porch. So for me, it was a flannel and my 3X Resistol that I reworked...

Getting a little warm now. Guess I'll have to go shirtless, but not hatless, before starting some yard work in my 3X...some neighbors stopped by to help out. :)

Hard chores this morning. Concrete mixing to pour a new landing by the boat/sauna house this morning. It is already high 70's and humid. A Shudde Brothers straw is the perfect working hat. The leather band is backed by a synthetic liner that stops moisture passage. The leather band is dyed and coated to make it very moisture resistant. I did not like the look of the back brim tipping down, but it turns out it it incredible practical. No sun on my neck even when leaning forward over new concrete. Go figure. The leather band is soaked and will need to be turned inside out, treated and gently air dried. Hat body and pug are good to go.

As others experience a working hat has a shorter life. It provides perspective to enjoy "finer hats, " and better appreciate the "working" characteristics of a hat. I have a vtg. 3X Open Road Stetson for a felt work hat and that hat is grand. Yes I have dipped it into the lake for my dogs to use as a water bowl. The hat has been cleaned, steamed, blocked maybe a half dozen times - it keeps on going. The leather sweat needs replacing, and I keep weighing the cost of replacement of leather sweat or another vtg hat. Sometime soon I will have to make the decision.

Like Charlie, I see I need a shave badly. Crazy old t-shirt and beat up shorts go with the rough work. I will head in and clean up in a while. Guests for a yard party in, ahhhhhh, 8 hours. Plenty of time.
