What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Feraud, do you know if the porkpie bash was initially associated with a completely upturned brim, and snapping down the front was a later developement, or vice versa?

I am not completely sure but will guess the snapped up brim was generally used later than the downturn.
That is not to say no one snapped their brims upward in the early decades but it seems more frequent later on.

Today I am going to a casino and have decided to wear my rose-red Mr. Stetson.

The brim is slightly stingy for me (2 inches, I usually get over 2 1/2 to 3"), but I have lost weight and will look better in the smaller brim than I did a year or two ago.

Today (and most days) it's a grey Jaxon "Bogart". I've had this hat for a couple years now and have used it as a regular "business day" hat. It's seen all kinds of weather and still (I think) remains nice looking. The hat wears well, and is a nice thick felt that has a soft feel. I'm very pleased with this hat.

Well, Hell you can't ask for more than that. The hat does look good Big Man and all you're missing is that big moustache you had a few years back.

A "few years", yeah right.

"Mellowed with age" is a good way to describe the felt of this hat, especially on the front of the brim. It's a little smoother and a little lighter there from, I suspect, holding it there while taking it on and off. It's also a little sun faded (can't really tell till you look at the under side of the brim.

But, like I said, I wear this hat probably 90% of the time Monday thru Friday for the past two or so years. The thing I really like is that it's held its shape very well. I remember my Dad would keep his "business hat" for five or six years at a time, but would have it cleaned and blocked about every three or four months. Unfortunately, that is not an option any more. [huh]

Had my wide brimmed Disney "Oxford 15" on today. Wide brim. I fixed the ribbon and left the original bash in it.

Yeah, those days are long gone. I do think that there are a few vendors here that would steam and clean a hat. I have several that need to be repaired and cleaned.
