Isn't it amazing to see how the nature of the gray felt itself seems to change with the color-temperature and relative value of the ribbon? (that's artist-speak!) While the caribou appears to be a mid-light gray when paired with a black ribbon, look how rich and velvety it becomes when next to the silver ribbon! It's an amazing transformation!

I wonder why HATCO didn't do this. The felt quality isn't their best but a bound edge and coordinated ribbon make a huge difference in the look of the hat. The caribou/grey is such an adaptable color that you can easily achieve a different look just by changing the color of the binding and the ribbon in a variety of colors. They wouldn't need the expense of a variety of felt colors (although that would be nice).
Perhaps they need some new designers.

Today I had to go to Chicago for a meeting. I saw quite a few fedoras there. This one was on my noggin, The Black, Major Mike Moore's hat.

Today, my Banana Republic, "Genuine Fur Felt." Olive green, tan pug, white satin lining, leather sweatband, 7 1/8 (57) not just a Medium! Patterned vent holes, 2 1/2" x 3" brim, 4 1/2" crown. I especially like this hat.
