I wore a dark suit to a funeral, today. I opted for my black Dobbs fur with 2 1/4" X 2 1/2" dimensional brim (fairly recent manufacture, an ebay treasure).

Been wearing a Penney's Marathon lately. Fits well and on the light side. The chair is kind of heavy though.

Great looking hat Dman! no I don't think it is that old maybe somewhere in the Sixties. It is a very soft hat I mean really soft. It is not however my flavor and it fits more like a 1/8 rather than a 1/4 so I may put this up.

Indycop,The ribbon is 2" same as the brim. The crown is 5-5/8".

I think Stetson in its day was still better than that Italian brand. Borsy made some nice soft hats back then though the Stetson's have appeared to hold up better.

I agree with you 100%, Matt.

In fact, I was looking today at my '30s Borsalino, whose silhouette and dimensions are practically identical to those of my Stetson 3X. You can tell that the felt quality and texture were once identical, too -- except that the (lightly used) Borsalino is no longer so soft and supple, while the (lightly used) Stetson 3X still is.
