David - with West Ham, and it being Christmas, I'll forgive you ;) My fear was it was Aston Villa (I'm a Baggies fan (West Bromwich Albion to less cultured souls ;) ).

Rail travel since privatization is bad enough over here at the best of times - good luck to your son!

HistoryTeach - very debonair!

Jeff -nice Hanna. I'm very pleased with mine. You got a good tweed mix which is the key - some of them move from interesting to 'eye-catching' to put it mildly :)

Richard, I don't know if it was to revenge the Viking raids, but the old lady certainly did export some of her "glass-beads" and "firewater" back in the 80s - and I'm afraid we received them in peace :eusa_doh:

Let's all unite in Zimmerman's old Christmas carol, stating: "I don't want to live on Maggie's farm nomore"  :drum:

Merry Christmas, guys *<|o)

Hi, gents. Again, great looking hats everyone.

Andy, we discovered today that we may have some serious car trouble, so the repairs may take precedence over a new pair of boots. We shall see.

Today we drove across West Texas. It was 25 degrees with a twenty mile-per-hour wind in El Paso this morning.

Akubra Camp Draft today. At a gas station a man walking out of the convenience store as I was entering said "Nice hat!"

Ole - it's a great carol, but my singing voice makes Mr Zimmerman's sound like nectar :)

ebonysw65 - that's a great stingy - wonderful colour felt

g.d. - great looking campdraft. I hope the car problems don't spoil the trip too much.

Have a good Christmas all

Welcome to West Texas g.! When I go out today I will wave in a southeasterly direction. We would have rolled out the trees, water and mountains if we new you were going to be out this way!

No hats for me either today. Making a rib roast with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding for Christmas lunch with the family.

Have a great Christmas Day everyone!

Thanks, Roger. But you know, I like W. Texas just the way it is!

Manfred and Richard, thank you both for your sympathy. We will take it in stride.

me too... hoping I don't make a mess of the pudding.

Merry Christmas all. May your blessings be warmly felt and, like hats, be fruitful and multiply.

Every Christmas, I always wear my white fedora with black hatband and black long coat. Unfortunately, this year, it was trapped in its box in the spare room closet. I've piled so much stuff up against the closet in there I would have to spend an hour moving it back out of the way.

So, I took the easy way out and wore my old comfortable grey felt fedora to church instead.

Merry Christmas. Time to reorganize the spare room.
