Richard - another fantastic fedora. You do find some amazing hats in Kent. I'm thinking a trip across the pond may be in order.

Thanks Andy (and to Steve & Manfred) - very slim pickings hat wise over here - bowlers and homburgs aren't too difficult to find, but mainly 6 7/8 or smaller... This was an ebay purchase, I've only found one vintage hat worth buying in a bricks and mortar store in my size.

Winter_joe - that's a real beauty, lovely colour.

g.d. - The Dallas looks great - nice ribbon/felt combination.

Mike - looks good - hope the dental treatment (and bill!) wasn't too painful.

After a hatless few days, it is back home and my Stetson 25. This would have fit in well over in Ft Worth (other than the bloody heat).

I am certainly looking forward to the long weekend and the holidays beginning next week.

Today - my Borsalino Alessandria in black.

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso...

The photo does not do this turquoise stone justice. Bolo and ring by Navajo artisan Leroy Begay. Money clip by Navajo silversmith Peter Nelson.

Great hats guys. The legacy 1000 is especially tasty, and I've admired the Dallas a few times. The 25 is right up my alley lately. I love the O.R. style with a pinch front crease, I guess a new one is in my future because I also love the LBJ look and just can't bring myself to remodel the one I've got. OG - turquoise and silver always look great with black

Continually admiring all of your pictorial offerings. Beauty, that vs 1000 legacy, winter Joe.

Stay cool, everyone!

btw- since I am taking my holiday today I will celebrate by wearing a proper hat all day. Probably my vintage Dobbs milan stingy, its pretty much my go to hat in the Alabama heat. Will post pics one day when I figure out how - do I need an app for this maybe?

Good morning Gents! I love all the thin ribbons this morning! mikespens, g.durand, DJH, Orangegrad, all wonderful hats my friends! winter _joe, love the vs legacy! Excellent hat! Love the Montecristi bowlerman!

I know it's blasphemy on the lounge to speak of it, but on this beautiful morning from Central Ohio, and once again, I'm wearing this cheap DP woolly that I reshaped and attached a thin ribbon to. I can't help it guys but I've taken a liking to this hat...even though I have nice fur felts to wear...(the crown is nowhere near as tapered as it appears in the pics)

TJones - the woolly looks just fine. We wear wool caps, why not wool fedoras? At first glance I was wondering if was a well-worn Akubra Banjo Paterson - which I will be wearing tomorrow.

Nothing wrong with wool as such. Some of us live under very rainy conditions, though - and then wool hats are rarely well suited. As long as the weather stays resonably dry, a wool hat can be really great. The one you are wearing looks great with a lot of personality. Some day I would like to see you smile, though ;)

TJones I am digging the thin ribbon, gives the hat a whole different vibe - like your channeling a little Tom Joad this morning. Wool hats are great for playing around with - I still have an old one that I reahape now and then, I am hesitant to do it much with my better felt hats.

I absolutely agree! There's a lot of dustbowl in these pics. Actually Tom Joad wore a cap in John Ford's version, but Grandpa Joad wore a thin ribbon, if I remember right :)

I believe you are right, althogh I have seen pics of mr TJones rocking a cap in such a way that does NOT say leisurely drive in the country or friendly round of golf

Thanks my friend. I'm getting ready to buy another hat. I looked up the Banjo Patterson and you're right. They do look very similar. The crown on my woolly are the very same dimensions as on the B.P....both brims are shaped the same except the B.P. is wider. I'd like to see how the Banjo Patterson looks on someone's head so I'll be watching for your pics.

gtdean, TheDane, dh66, thanks guys I appreciate the comments..."The Grapes of Wrath", excellent movie! One of my all time favorites and one of John Ford's best IMO. Have you ever checked out all the variety hats in that movie? From fedoras to caps, and Sheriff style western hats. There were even a few caps in the movie that were worn by motorcycle cops which looked very similar to the one worn by Marlon Brando in, "The Wild One".
