What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

This is a wonderful hat, as is the other one I have in very light gray. These are a little softer and slightly less moldable than the austere Knox Forty... it would have been interesting to time travel and compare them both new in the hat shop. Even if money was no object, I think I'd find it hard to decide between them. It is quite a heavy felt... a soothing choice for today's dropping temperatures.

The photo is taken with an iPhone 4. On board processing is somewhat severe (heavy on the contrast and sharpening boost), but if the lighting is good the picture quality is quite astounding. For the record, the ribbon is a little too saturated in the photo... a bit more towards copper and a bit less carmine.

I'm not a fan of quoting photos, but this should be seen again and often. Everything fits together perfectly.

Some great hats today, gents. Coble, I especially like seeing Bob's handiwork on this forum. The brim on the copperpot is spectacular, and the old west style bow treatment matches perfectly.

OK, I'll bite, what the heck is a copperpot? And I don't mena that in a bad way! Is that a particular model from a known manufacturer?

Bob at blacksheep hatworks made this hat for me out of western beaver felt, its a tough hat, meaning that brim will not move, it would take a load of water to mess this hat up. Well Bob named the hat "the copperpot" its the name of the hat style that we came up with. The name has a good ring to it, and fits its style, so when ever i do share photos of this beautiful hat from Bob i list it under its name. Don't worry didn't take anything in a bad way, i totally understand where your coming from. When Bob finished the Copperpot, the name just came out and it stuck.

Sorry-- I was talking about that light colored VS with the maroon/burgundy ribbon. I remember liking that color scheme at the time I ordered with Parker.

Coble, that hat looks equally as good with the top creased as it did open! I don't think I've seen it creased before.

really like this one bowlerman, definately like the thin ribbon with the simple bow, the hat and bow almost have a dark blue color, at least on my monitor thats what i see, very nice.

Thanks for the comments, coble, et al! It really is a jet black felt, but something about it in direct light reflects a lot instead of absorbs! It does look a little navy/charcoal in this photo, I suppose.

i love the open crown to it, but wanted to try something new to the crown. So i worked with a few ideas, even a telescope crown design, but liked this one the most. This is what i came up with today.

David, Mike... two very dramatic bows to start the day.

I am completely bowless in this old tweed hat.
The seller (seemed knowledgable) quoted 1920s. I had to add almost an inch in circumference to wear it. With a good soaking, the old wool, muslin and leather were surprisingly compliant.
