Today I'm wearing my only proper fedora. It's a dark gray, Italian made Borsalino branded fedora that came off the shelf with an open crown and a snap brim:

Choeki, I have to say this is the best so far!!!!!!! I like the way the ribbon looks, gives it a 'used, well loved fedora' kind of look.

Today in honor of The Dutchmans great new Campdraft.
I am wearing my Campdraft.

If others were like me and wondered at the Campdraft name, like what did it mean and where did it come from.

The sport of campdrafting has its origins in the early days of the Australian stockman, and is believed to have begun in rural Queensland in the early part of the twentieth century.

When drovers needed to select individual cattle from a mob to drive them to a separate holding area, the stockman would "cut out" the beast from the mob. This was achieved through the skills of the horse and rider to block the attempts of the beast to follow his natural instincts in returning to the mob. This was usually done when large mobs of cattle were mustered together and held by a team of horsemen on the open plain, while the nominated rider did the "cutting out". Over time, stockmen developed competitions based around this activity, which have evolved into the uniquely Australian sport as we know it today.

It has a real leather sweatband and is fully lined:

There was quite a bit of "shelf wear" when I bought it though (dust, mainly). As you can tell the ribbon has seen better days and the lining fell out when I initially picked it up (I tucked it back in... is it supposed to be glued in or something?).

I like this one best so far!!!:eusa_clap

It's one of my favorites, as well. It has wonderfully responsive felt, which shapes easily to anything and holds it. It's pretty thick felt, too, so it's durable as all get out. Nice cavanagh edge, well built and trimmed, good proportions, holds up well in heavy rain, and I think the ribbon I put on it sets it off nicely.
And it's not so pristine that I feel scared wearing it, or that I have to treat it delicately.

Thanks! I just picked it up on OFAS. Its the first hat that I've ever owned with a dimensionally cut brim and it is taking a bit of getting used to.

My gun and I had an argument several years ago and it is still home, sitting on my nightstand, pouting.

Thank You MKL.. I figure the Stetson to be at least early 40's... Yes, it does have a bound edge.. It is one of my favorites.
