Possibly, but the uncertainties somewhat counteract that for me. For example, that first fur felt I got had a leatherette sweatband which wasn't obvious until I got my hands on it. It seems fine otherwise. It may be large enough in circumference to cut it short, and stitch a fabric sweatband over the stub, but that's a project for another time...
I have yet to discover the other potential pitfalls and things to watch out for in buying second hand, and how to identify and avoid them in advance. That learning curve has its costs too, both in cash and patience, and shopping is a tedious necessity rather than a hobby for me. I do like things with a warranty and returns policy Plus not a lot seems to be circulating in 58cm here in the UK, or not at prices I'm prepared to gamble with.
