I have a big, sectional sofa. I started on one end with my wife leaning on me and my stepson sprawled on the far end (almost upside down). The popcorn was popped and he crept closer (even though he said he didn't want any) and ended up in his mom's lap. The cat climbed and scrambled to be in the middle of everyone. She doesn't like to be left out.
