How was it with the lemon?
What's your recipe? If I may ask.

With the lemon, it was close to a whiskey sour. Which is not bad, but if I wanted a whiskey sour, I'd make one.

The basic receipe is simple syrup, a couple dashes of bitters in an Old-Fashioned glass; swirl to mix. Add ice most of the way up. Add bourbon and stir. I do not add or muddle cherries.

N.B.: I have muddled an orange slice with the simple syrup and the bitters. The orange flavor is prefered to the lemon. Is leaving out the orange a violation of some code?

This has been discussed at length here:

I tend to crush a sugar cube rather than use syrup but syrup is usually handier I admit.

I think if you've got a recipe you really like, stick to that until you find a better one. I'm not 100% sure my Sazarac recipe would be consider true form, but it makes a loverly drink.

I like this guy though:

A nice gin martini, Boodles gin, no vermouth at all. Several large olives stuffed with garlic.

Not only was I tiddly, but I reeked.

karol

If the oppotunity presents itself try a bit of Lillet Blanc instead of vermouth. I do mean a little. With that try a lemon twist which you have worked on like crazy to get off all the pith possible.
