Painfully cold Bacher.....super cheap German beer from Aldi. A passable lager comparable to Beck's or St. Pauli that's cheaper than Bud.

After hoeing the garden and weed-eating for a couple of hours a PBR was back on top as "the best beer ever". This evening it was a Santa Fe Brewing State Pen Porter. Nice evening to enjoy...

Out for dinner at an Italian restaurant. No good beer [emoji24]. Oh well, as they say, when in Rome do as the Romans. House Chianti went well with the meal. On the bright side, our waiter was an IPA lover, who directed me to a gas station, only two blocks away. The beer cave, what a marvelous place. A walk in cooler filled with premium beer[emoji16].

That's a good one. Bob, I've never done it and I can't remember where I heard it, but someone once told me bourbon and ginger snaps were a good combo.

I hadn't thought of it myself, but since ginger snaps have a complex, spicy and nuanced flavor - more 19th than 20th Century - it makes sense they would pair well with Bourbon (and, my guess, some other liquors with complimentary flavors).

It's one of the few very old foods, with, as mentioned, a 19th Century flavor, that has held on to this day.
