After a long and trying day, I had one tall pour of Ardbeg. Now off to brunch with the family and an Irish Coffee with Connemara.

If you come to Baton Rouge there is a cocktail bar that opened a little over a year ago near Perkins and Essen called Olive or Twist that is wonderful! It is next to Martin's Wine Cellar. Marvin came into town to give a talk on Pisco last fall.

Will be there fairly soon - still have several reasons for stopping by.

Now that is an impressive bar.

And there I was sampling the many beers at both Chimes locations when in the river city. Will need to give the Olive or Twist a try!

Thanks!

Hurricanes.
I didn't use the mix because that overly syrupy sh*t will lay a m.f. of a hangover on you quick. I mixed oranje juice and cherry fruit punch (Juicy Juice kind, no added hfcs) with fresh squeezed lime juice and a little simple syrup with a generous amount of Bacardi. It didn't have that neon red color of a Pat O'Brians, but otherwise worked just fine.

Uh, I think you were missing a few things:

2 oz light rum
2 oz dark rum
2 oz passion fruit juice
1 oz orange juice
½ oz fresh lime juice
1 Tablespoon simple syrup
1 Tablespoon grenadine
Garnish: orange slice and cherry

The grenadine will make it red. If you don't put passion fruit juice in it then it just isn't the same. :cheers1:

Passion fruit juice is in fruit punch.
Grenadine, although quite the red and tasty additive, is also chug full of hangover. I improvised and lightened the load.
Fat Tuesday is still Tuesday, I prefer to save any serious mixing for the weekend.

My neighbor planted some passion fruit vines a few years a go. Now in summer they are everywhere. Apparently they put out runners underground like bamboo and start popping up all over the place. The fence between our yards will be covered with them.
Once you get past the novelty of the flavor, they really aren't that good. The kids don't even have much interest in them any more.

Send them here! I'll eat them, drink the juice in cocktails and even bake with them. :p Better than nasty cauliflour. :p

The wife and I put up some shelves last night so we had to celebrate afterwards.

Green is the color you'll turn when you smell the gas from that albino broccoli.

Green is also the color of the bottle of the St. Pauli Girl I'm having right now.
