Tonight just a bottle of Rolling Rock. I know not connoisseur drinking, but usually a Martini.
I use Either Plymouth or Beefeater and Noilly Prat.
Just an aside the other week my wife and i were in Whitehaven, Cumbria. And went to Rum museum,
They had a rum label that said this Rum is slightly over proof it was a 150%

Hi James

I go there quite a bit, nice place, MOST of the people I work with out there are great, however a lot of the US would change that to "California SHOULD be a country all by itself." I just wish I could afford to live in Long Beach. It's the only facility that know of that our company owns where you can walk to lunch at a decent restaurant.

Still drinking Old Fashioned's a lot, but some of my old friends from Kansas are in town this week so I'm drinking free hotel happy hour beer. Last night it was Amber Bock (Good) but the night before they had Ultra water.

Later

I would be against it being a country by itself. The people we have running the state would screw it up in ten minutes. :p

The Old Fashioned, made right, is the quintessential drink. :cheers1:

I made a gin and tonic last night.

I made the tonic water with a Soda Stream. The syrup for the Soda Stream is not perfect (too sweet and the splenda in it makes it a bit off) but I can get more quinine in it that way.

A Petite Champagne Cognac... the label escapes me at the moment, but it's a leftover bottle from a large collection given to me.

Just about to pour another glass, and it's Maison Surrenne Cognac. Apparently from the 1989 vintage, bottled in '98. Good stuff...

Vodka tonic w/ lime made w/ Monopolowa. A Polish recipe vodka made from distilled potatoes. So very sweet and clean. I cannot buy it here in Iowa. But stock up whenever I travel West.
Do a blind taste test. It will win every time, even against Chopin brand which cost's 3X more.
FYI, I have found Vodka made from potatoes are always the best

Try vodka made from rye. It is much better. :D

Hey James,
I beg to differ.
Research the process of distillation.
You will see that the starches in potatoes convert to alcohol more pure than wheat.
Plain and simple.
Proof is in the pudding.
Just try it blind.

I am enjoying the fact they went back to the old formula.

Aged?! That must have been forty years ago. They don't age it five minutes now. :p

I think James might be the type that would prefer a grain based vodka. That guess is based in the other drinks that James discusses. The characteristics of vodka that is made from grains is a little like the characteristics of whiskeys and whiskys (but not as pronounced). Potatoe vodka is a very clean taste that you don't get with grain but grain results in a more complex taste.

Enjoy the variety. The best vodka is the one you like.
