Kolchak's theme was very good.
I'm sorry the show didn't run longer.
The wife and I watch a couple of episodes every so often, but we've already seen them a few times anyway.
Certainly an inspiration for the X-Files, etc years after.

Season 1, actually I have not heard the season 2 theme, or rather, not noticed it. I think they only play season 1 over here so I am more familiar with that theme.. Season 2 sounds a bit too surfy to me.
My dad would not let me watch this as a kid as he thought it was stupid!
My favourite episode from the re runs has to be Hot Rod Herman(Season 1 or 2)

In my experience most people who like the Munsters' theme song tend to remember the version they like but don't recall there being two different versions, so you're not alone. Although I like both versions, I tend to favor the Season 2 version because a) it's far more energetic, and b) I like surf guitar.
