I adore Franz Ferdinand--both their albums are great and they keep taunting their fans with the idea that another album is forthcoming--though I haven't heard a firm date yet.

Did you get to the Devotchka concert? I haven't had that much fun in a long, long time--really a great show.

no, i didn't get to the concert. i think i forgot about it, actually. my life has become too chock full of things to do. i'm glad it was good, though!! i'll be keeping my eye out for another show...maybe i can get tickets way early and make sure nothing is going on.

too bad we don't live in the same place! it would have been fun to go with another fan. :)

More often than not I have the CDs I receive with my Jazziz subscription playing. At the moment it's Standards old & new vol. 1 (vocals). This is the CD from the December 2004 edition.

"The You And Me That Used To Be," George Hall and his Orchestra, 1937, with a very fine vocal chorus by the estimable Miss Dolly Dawn.

Next up: Little Jack Little and his Orchestra in 1936, with "I'm Shooting High." Jack himself talks/sings the vocal.

Otros Aires dos, an electronic take on tango and milonga but closer to the spirit of the original music for dancing than say Gotan project.

"Bruise Violet" by Babes in Toyland

Oh good choice! Having a bit of an angry day?!

I would transcribe the lyrics at this point but I don't have the energy for all those asterisks ;)

Edit: And I'm now listening to Girls Against Boys: Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby
