I'm listening to the whirring noise of the drill gun from the dentist !

I'm at the dentist so much that I'm the most relaxed patient they have. They ask if I have any questions and I always say, "You all know me; I know the drill." It's old hat to me. I've even fallen asleep in the chair, just for a few seconds, but still....

Today I've been listening to Libby Holman. I found a compilation of her hits with the very unfortunate title of The Scandalous Libbv Holman: Something to Remember her By. I love her rich, honeyed voice, and her songs all have a lot of depth to them. I think she deserved a more respectful title. I particularly love the spirituals and blues she performed a little later in her career. Here's my favorite track on the album, House of the Rising Sun, which I found on youtube.

She did one of her few live radio appearances on Rudy Vallee's program in January of 1935, and does a show-stopping version of "Moanin' Low." Well worth looking up if you haven't heard it -- I transferred the discs for that program about ten years ago, and it's a favorite.
