Rude Once Too Often
Dr Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket

I have a few of these shows to catch up with over the weekend, they were a pair of elderly spinsters, who toured England in the 1930's performing operetta and musical comedies.

During the 1980's they recorded many shows for the BBC one series is called "The Enchanting World of Hinge and Bracket" Dame Hilda also recorded a version of "Aunty Mame" where she sounds very much like Bette Davis in "All about Eve"

PS

Dr Hinge is a has a "Doctorate of Music" from Cambridge university

Waiting for Mosaic's new release next month - Benny Goodman Capitol Sides 1939-1951.

Meanwhile, listening to Christine Ebersole and Billy Stritch's wonderful "Sunday in New York" and the new Jessica Molaskey "A Kiss To Build A Dream On." Both worthy additions to a sophisticates musical library.

At the moment, "The Voice from the Housetop", a 1929 syndicated radio broadcast is playing over my transmitter. I am listening to it on an RCA Radiola 60 with 106 loudspeaker (circa 1928). Next up will be a 1929 syndicated broadcast recording of the Maytag Minstrels, and later this evening the Brunswick Brevities, with Red Nichols is scheduled.

Last night I listened to the complete Dempsey-Tunney fight (1927) on a Crosley Super Tridyn Deluxe. Quite an experience. It is indeed possible to get lost in the period.
