Took a tattered album of Gene Kardos records off of the shelf and played the on the Victrola. I forgot what a fine orgaisation he ran, and what a really good singer Dick Robertson was.

"What Are You Thnkin' About, Baby?", "China Boy", "Don't Let Your Love Go Wrong", "Cornfed Gal", "Mean Music", "Red Headed Baby", "You've Got to Sell It", "Business in F", "My Extraordinary Gal"

Not every disc is a nonpariel performance, but these are dance records of a very high overall quality. I'm beginning really appreciate those neglected products of Dark Ages of recorded sound that Fletch works so hard to introduce to us all.

Tomorrow evening I think that i'll play only Royal Blue Columbia records, (or at least records which were originally issued on Royal Blue shellac) and enjoy sime more 1931-34 stuff. Oddly enough, about a third of my Royal Blue records are Classical, half are foreign (and little is uglier than a Royal Blue Pressing with a Green Label) only a very small proportion of popular and Jazz, though the English Parlaphone New Rhythm Style series has provided me with many otherwise unobtainable ( or at the very least expensive) pressings of the good jazz preserved by John Hammond in these Depression years.

My listening library consists of 80% swing and big band, 15% pre-1960 country and western, and 5% other pre-1960 music. I have all but given up post-1960 music.

A rather worn copy of "Sensational Mood", by Hunter's Serenaders on Vocalion

Enjoying my 'new' replica vintage G.E. radio. Listening to the local radio station "Golden Days Radio".

Current song on the air: "I've Got the World on a String".

...next track...

Now it's the Mills Brothers, singing "Sweet Georgia Brown".
