Time for a little Al Bowlly .....

When You've Got A Little Springtime In Your Heart (1934)

I love that song!

I'm listening to French jazz accordianist Gus Viseur. Just discovered his music and I'm enjoying it a lot. Apparently he was popular in Paris during the 1930s-1950s. If anyone likes that European-style French jazz, I'd recommend looking him up. You can find his recordings on YouTube.

ps-Who's Al Bowlly?
South African singer. Little bitty guy about 5'1". Died in an air raid on London. Ladies loved him. Those around here still do.

Al Bowlly was a 1930s African-born British crooner (who quite literally wrote the book on crooning**). He was very popular during the 30s. He died in 1941 during the Blitz on London. I'm not a girl, but I still love his music. He's a great singer.

More Gus Viseur:

**Don't believe me? Here's the book:

EDIT -- He was 5'1"? That's tiny!

These were the actual BBC sports anchors, weathermen and newsmen at the time. People back then had a sense of humor. I just can't imagine Katie Couric, Brian Williams, and certainly not Keith Olbermann or any of the other oh-so-serious media divas of today doing anything like this.

More coffee, yes, but leave the booze out this time :eeek:

Damn Rue, your no fun at all...btw that was a great clip of KK's band you posted! I wish they would release a box set of his films. The have a really nice cleaned up copy of "You'll Find Out" on the Karloff / Lugosi Classics set, well worth the price alone...

Here's one of my favorites: The Dinning Sister with "You're a Character, Dear". And what a wonderful performance...
