First up, the snappiest band money could buy, Roger Wolfe Kahn and his Orchestra in 1928 with a prime competitor for the title of Most Roaring Twenties Record Ever Made, "Crazy Rhythm". Franklyn Baur does the vo-do-de-ocal.

Next, ahead to 1939 for one of the big ballad hits of the year, "Wishing (Will Make It So), as performed by Orrin Tucker and his Orchestra. Tucker himself does the vocal, giving Wee Bonnie Baker a rest. Orrin is also, as far as I know, the last of the thirties dance band leaders to still walk among us, having turned 99 just a month or so ago.

One of my favorite CHILEAN records. My copy, though was issued in the Victor Mexican series. A charming sentimental tune with a lovely melody, beautifully performed by Juan Arvizu.

Next, following a commercial for Colgate's Dental Cream -- it cleans your breath while it cleans your teeth -- it's back to 1934 with Eddie Cantor, and the hit tune from his picture "Kid Millions," "When My Ship Comes In." "Just imagine the pleasure, wearing shoes that no one ever wore before!" Clearly, Eddie would have a hard time on this forum.

Next, following a commercial for Airwick -- make those household smells GO -- it's all the way ahead to 1946, and the Slim Galliard Trio with one of the all-time-most-nonsensical novelty hits, "Cement Mixer." Put-i-Put-i. And I'm gonna have that stuck in my head the rest of the day, thanks very much. Puttle-ti puttle-ti put.
