What are the current U.S. tariffs on Japan?

Hi everyone,

The groundhog doomed us but it's almost over. We've gotta hang in there.

Does anyone have recent - within the last week or so - experience with current U.S. tariffs on goods from Japan? Obviously the Supreme Court handed down its ruling that the U.S. tariffs are illegal and unenforceable, but then immediately the White House indicated a new global tariff of 10% on top of the other tariffs.

That said, I can't find information on where it actually stands at the moment.

Prior to the ruling Buyee was charging 15.5% on jackets imported to the States to cover the tariffs, but has that now increased to 25.5%? If anyone with recent firsthand experience can let me know I'd very much appreciate it, thank you. Looking forward to the information, speak soon.

Enjoy the day.

I got a tariff bill from fedex right when the supreme court news dropped. I waited it out a few days and Fedex stopped asking for payment

Got a dhl coming tomorrow, fully do not expect any tariffs.

@afrokobe thank you for the information but did Buyee not automatically charge you a tariff at the time shipping was calculated?

I bought direct from tcb, so it was not ddp. I also heard that customs are not collecting anything due to all the changes currently. So I assume incoming shipments are fine until they change it...

Thank you, by the way, what are tcb and ddp, I'm not familiar. If customs are not currently collecting then any Buyee coupons will actually be used to make a better deal, not ultimately lessen the tariff add-on.

Tcb is two cat brand, japanese denim brand. Ddp is delivered duty paid, where you prepay the tariffs/duties. You could also try fromjapan or another proxy that has different shipping options

When you purchase from buyee you pay the duties once your package arrives to the buyee warehouse. There is no way to bypass it you pick your shipping method and it automatically calculates the tariff and adds it to your shipping. I just bought something and it was an extra 140$ on a 700$ product. That comes out to about 20%

Thank you @Boulderunner that's the information I needed.

I paid 20% tariffs on a couple of things from Buyee, and then without notice the next time I made a purchase the rate had dropped to 15.5%. Information seems anecdotal, with your experience at 20%, mine at 15.5% and @Iron Horse paying 10% as noted above.

It seems a mess at the moment, which is not ideal as it's no fun to gamble on a purchase to then see what the tariff rate is upon shipping. I don't want to count on my experience of 15.5% only to have it actually be 25.5%, which is the original rate plus the new 10% tariff.

This is tiresome.
