I hear you about the brim. It's very stiff at the minute. Despite a lot of steam, I only managed to flatten it slightly. I'm planning on keeping working on it though.

On stiff thick felted brims, water, not steam, is your best friend. Get the brim just wet enough to where you can easily shape it. When you get the shape you want, set your hat aside and let it dry.

They do take some work, water and steam. I was looking through my westerns and I can’t remember one that I didn’t eventually iron the brim flat and start from scratch with the exception of a 4x6 OC one I bought that came with a flat brim. Once flat, with the exceptions of the ones with a curl, all you need are your thumbs, thigh and chest. No shovel front brims, please.

I've been having fun playing around with shaping my new to me Akubra Woomera.
Found some great inspiration on this thread especially from @T Jones and @Hurricane Jack. Thanks guys.

Thanks, Bob. It’s one of the few WAR’s I have and the only western. The ribbon’s not original but I’m not sure I would change it back if I could. It’s a favorite.
