The original owners wallpapered the master closet and it is still there and in perfect shape. I have remnants of some of the paper used in the dining nook. The paper from 'secondhandrose' is stunning, although I am not a paper fan.

Thanks for the link. The use of bold wallpaper calls for careful judgement.

When I moved into my current house, the P.O. had been having a love affair with wallpaper. There were vertical roses, stripes, borders, horizontal rosettes, and what not. One wallpaper on the lower part of the wall, a border, then something different above, topped off with a different border at the cornice. No two rooms were the same. Amazing.

It was like a Collins Street Corsetry.... so my wife says.
