So glad that the sign was kept and "repurposed," but the goose looks a bit woebegone without his "Red Goose Shoes" notation.

Based on the absolute room price and your observation of the implied stability of prices, I'm guessing this was a depression-era sign when inflation was dead and deflation modest, i.e., price stability was the norm. That said, you are correct, I bet that decision was lamented at some point.

At $100.00 a night 75 cents would get you about 3 minutes. Definitely cuts down on the awkward small talk aspect.
