Vicenza blackened brown vs CXL black browning.

Hello,
I'm looking into either Vicenza blackened brown or horsehide cxl in black. I really like the black and brown combo patina and have heard that the CXL actually might be better for that than the blackened brown Vicenza.

Would like to build an aero grizzly with black leather and brown or golden brown fur to get a bit of a two tone jacket. Thought the brown patina might make the look more cohesive.

What are your experiences?

Colorwise there is no difference to be made, how fast they go brown depends on batch, will differ on same leather depending on batch.

Only difference and decision to be made is: pebbled leather surface vs very smooth grain..

Grizzly will look good with either.

My experience with black, brown and cordovan cxl fqhh and black and russet vicenza says that the cxl has an amazing colour depth (almost transparent) while vicenza is dull. Never handled the blackened brown though.
And ofcourse vicenza is more supple.

For what it's worth, I have owned jackets in black & brown CXL as well as brown and blackened-brown Vincenza.

Brown Vincenza is really very lacking in color depth and doesn't compare to brown CXL at all. Blackened-brown Vincenza is very similar to black CXL with regards to how the color "feels", at least to my eyes. Still, this probably also varies by batch, so YMMV.

Can't speak for patina tho as the blackened-brown Vincenza jacket is 2 days old lol

In terms of colour, black CXL is more attractive than blackened brown Vicenza. In terms of comfort, it’s exactly the other way round.

I have to admit, the blackened brown Vicenza that I've worn, stared at, etc. is pretty righteous. Checks all the boxes for me.
