To those Lounge members who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, may you have a peaceful Veterans Day, however you observe it. Thank you for your service. And if you served in another country's armed forces, in the name of freedom, thank you, too. :eusa_clap

Yes, thank you to the veterans, all of you. I always thought I was too much of a wuss for the military.

Speaking of veterans, I saw a WWII veteran today and wanted to give him a hug. But didn't want to scare the heck out of him either

Thank you! He'd kill me if he knew I wrote all that down here. He doesn't like to brag. That's my job
I'm very proud of him and anyone that's willing to serve their country.

It was a privilege and an honor to have been able to serve in the USAF for a tad over 25 years. In retrospect I wish I'd stayed in until I would have been forced out at 28! I was fortunate--when I was an Airman First Class, while walking down a basement corridor in Headquarters Strategic Air Command, it suddenly came over me the knowledge that I was doing exactly what I was meant to do with my life. I never lost that feeling, and I miss wearing the uniform every day.

"Off we go, into the wild blue yonder, climbing high..."

Just back from the Royal British Legion in my small town. This morning we had the most dreadful weather, however there were around 50 people at the War Memorial many of whom joined in the short parade which I was commanding, I was lucky to have a Lt Commander RN to assist me as he had done one before. Then it was back to the RBL for a few drinks and a little bit of lantern swinging.

I did manage to punch a RAF Flt Lt as I was saluting during the last post, he somehow managed to get far too close....

Not a WWII veteran - but I did my bit in the armed forces back in the 60's. You may hug me anytime, I don't scare easily.
