VERY Cool!

As for the length, aren't truckers supposed to be that short? I wouldn't worry about it, you look rockstar cool.

Eeh, $500 is good money. Vanson would've probably made it for a little more, I'm sure they have the patterns and all. Pricewise, I really lucked out on mine tho with the shipping and all, it still got to a substantial amount of $ but whatever, I don't regret it as there wasn't even a remote possibility of not buying it.

Some quick and horrendous fit pix. I know it's short. I didn't really know the jacket would be this short, the listing didn't mention it but I figured it couldn't be that much considering it's a 42. But I really prefer it this way. Fits almost as good as Terry's which is what I only could've hoped for.

The jacket fits as it should and looks right. It is more casual and not necessarily a 'statement' jacket although the leather makes a statment on it's own. Not to hijack this thread (or your images) but you look quite similar to what I looked like (in general appearance) way back when although I may be taller than you appear in these images. I've attached a reference image - just add 40 years and about 25 pounds and I could be your older (much older!) brother. Time and gravity take their toll on the best of us but at least I'm still here and can participate in the festivities of life!

Like others have said, the "Trucker" jacket is supposed to be short - to be comfortable when you're sitting down. I had a denim one in the eighties, and always felt like I was wearing a pair of sleeves. Yours is perfect, classic.

Thanks for picture #7! Now I can die a happy man. :D

I don't know why you like to put down your 'ugly mug' - you're one of the best looking guys on this forum.

Nice to wake up to this much positivity! Thanks for the awesome comments! I'm glad you think so. The jacket has been out partying hard all night and I even got a positive comment on it which happens like never. It's a really good jacket. Example of what is known as a good Vanson. The kind of jacket that you know right away will survive anything you go thru wearing it and that's exactly what made me start obsessing over this silly hobby.

@Mickiemac, I can see it! :D I've never had a coat this nice, tho and had spend most of the last winter cursing myself for having a closet full of jackets that do absolutely nothing for the warmth.

@BobJ, lol yeah, that one was just for you. XD

Only problem with all this is, as with the CR's, I'm quite sure I'll end up chasing another one - probably that damn Cheyenne - and won't be able to resist try buying it once it turns up. And that's stupid. Few extra decorative stitches doesn't justify buying essentially the same jacket but if that was really true, or at least if it was something we truly believed in, this forum would have zero members.

So, here's one style I had no idea Vanson ever did! Terry mentioned it in his Lost Worlds Trucker jacket video review, but I've never actually seen one turn up.

So I was quite surprised when this one popped up on eBay not long ago. I immediately made a low-ball offer which got accepted and the jacket was on the way (special thanks to Ton312 for helping me out with the shipping).
I always loved this trucker (or Type III (or denim (or jean))) style leather jacket but just couldn't find a good version - They were all either too 80's (gigantic, droopy shoulders), too long and baggy or just somehow too corny. Even the Levi wasn't exactly it. . .

This Vanson is. Well, for me, at least.

Of course, I learned right after that they're still making 'em for the Japanese market and that it's quite popular there but... Theirs ain't never gonna be this cool!

I'll skip the part about the quality of the jacket. It's Vanson. Leather is quite soft and pliable but it's as solid as it gets and twice as heavy. Naked cowhide, I'd say. Heavier than the new stuff, that's for sure. Really thick!

Heavy-ass, clunky Talon main and snaps that are a choir to unsnap. The chest pockets are deeper than the decorative stitching would suggest. Standard lining pocket.

The jacket itself is a full-on custom. This one's got two hand warmers which never happens on their take on the style as far as I know, plus the measurements are weird all around. I mean, 22" back with 26" sleeves. Doubt they'd make one so short by default. But what's important is that it works.

Other than that, the jacket arrived in a good condition. Nothing to report except for maybe some fading along the edges and one pocket bag is torn. Easily fixable. Other than that, perfect.

All in all, I'm really, really happy with it. It's beyond anything I'd ever hoped from this style in both quality and fit. Like I said, I've been after one for a long while and Terry adding fuel to the fire each time that he posted a photo of that damn LW wasn't helping at all so now I finally have one that I believe can compare. It's a 100% percent rocker jacket that I know will see some days when I am going to have to convince myself to walk out of the house wearing it but that's what makes a good leather jacket. As long as it won't keep me bored, I'm happy. Definite keeper.

Any questions, ask and in the mean time, some photos of the thing. . .

Wow [emoji15], great looking piece. Very detailed. I wore a similar denim all throughout high school. Could have started my own style,if I had this. Very cool.

What a score! I've been chasing after an elusive leather Type 3 jacket for some time...glad to see that you found a good one. They're a timeless classic! Most of the leather Type 3 jackets I've seen (including the Aeros) come with snaps instead of buttons...although I just learned that JL will make one with buttons by request.
A while back, I scored a Levis "Short Horn" Type 3 two-pocket (no handwarmers) in a dark brown cowhide that is one of my favorite go-to jacket for warmer days...but nowhere as cool as your Vanson. These are jackets that look good when worn short...and beat-up! Enjoy!

Figured some of you guys might be interested, there's a Vanson Type 3 that just recently turned up. Good price, great jacket! The cover photo is so crap you might've missed it so figured I'd link it up here. Maybe someone wants to add it to their collection? It's certainly worth it.

Man, it's just such a good jacket, I love mine so much I'm actually half tempted to do something about thins one but that'd be stupid beyond belief. It's just addiction talking anyway. But it's a really cool jacket. Just the kind you put on and forget it's there. Much easier wearing than the CR, less of a statement than the cross zip, all the while being cool enough for both.

Anyhow, I can tell you right away this one is made from the same leather as the one I got; heavy naked cow kinda deal. It's got almost none of that heavy top coating they're known for now and it's a bit heavier. A lot, at places, even. Extremely tough jacket in any case. Can't imagine LW being far ahead. Coolest bit is they don't longer make these (for the US market) so you should be able to easily move this rare beast if it doesn't work for you.

Funny thing is, I just realized that aside from the hand-warmers, these also don't come with the zipper by default and mine's got it. Asked Vanson about it, they don't have a clue. They don't even know they'd ever make one like that. No serial number, nothing. I wonder if there's a cool story behind it? Guess I'll never find out. Might as well make my own.

Anyway, after Photobucket crapped out all the photos of my jacket are gone but here are a few more, in case anyone's interested.
